Why has the Amanda Todd case gotten so much media attention....

.....when we all know that there are tons of kids being bullied and many that have committed suicide as a result of that bullying? And why has bullying become a reason to commit suicide? Are kids more sensitive these days? Because I don't think there has ever been a time when bullying didn't exist but I don't recall people allowing it to push them to suicide at such an alarming rate. There must be something else at play here. What is it?

I guess it was her story . She was a really , really beautiful girl but she needed to deal with a blackmailer . The man pressurized her , and also she was gang bullied by some girls and more . Plus her family moved thrice or twice i don't really know but really , her story was very , very sad :/

Do you think it may have something to do with her looks?

I think it might be because her case was different from a lot of other kids that committed suicide. She went through a lot, but then again so did a lot of other kids who committed suicide. I've never heard a suicide story like Amanda. It was like no other story I'd heard.

My guess would be that every case of teen suicide is unique and tragic, like no other story you had ever heard. Where's all the media attention?

She gave herself media attention by posting her own notes. Sorry I have no compassion, sadness for family, compassion for her no! I know what I'm talking about!!

I was saddened particularly by the efforts she made to resolve this bullying short of suicide, none of which were a permanent solution. I believe that if we knew the circumstances of each and every suicide of bullied people, we would feel just as sad and upset for them. Some circumstances seem to touch the public with an intensity that defies explanation, maybe poor Amanda was one of them.

But these other cases are just as accessible with the tap of a button. It would take no more effort to hear about any number of teen/bullying suicides than it does to hear about Amanda's.

Amanda's case received a lot of publicity. You appear very contentious today, are we feeling grumpy today?

I guess it just offends me when one person gets all this attention as if their situation is somehow more tragic than anybody else's. All children are precious and should be treated as such. All of these other kids died in similar circumstances but nobody knows their names. Doesn't that bother you?

Any death that is triggered by bullying bothers me. There are just too many for media to acknowledge all of them, I think. Doesn't mean the people who knew and love them aren't mourning their loss, which is what really counts isn't it?

I'm not sure how she like popped up but I don't feel for her that much because she stripped on the cam for strangers which is Not a good or safe thing to do aha and she did it with a guy who already had a gf. Her story is ridiculous to me. There's actually kids and teen who get bullied for no reason and they commit Suicide but where's there facebook page? Where's there million likes?

While I realize that she did some very stupid things, I hardly think that the response was justified...it seems her bulliers were more obsessed than most to torment her. That being said, aren't all teen suicides tragic and unique? Where is the media attention for Brandon Elizares, Jay Jones, Mitchell Wilson, Tyler Clementi, Seth Walsh and Jason Legere? Why are these teen suicides any less tragic?

She stripped in response to part of the bullying plan to get her to humiliate her; where's your sense of compassion here?

*humiliate herself
