Listen. You are 14 and a young woman. Part of growing up is admitting you need help. First of all, you don't even know you have a yeast infection unless you get checked out by a doctor. It could not even be a yeast infection. There is another common vaginal infection called bacterial vaginosis. It is similar to a yeast infection except it is caused by bacteria instead of yeast. This cannot be treated over the counter.

You will eventually have to see a doctor for female issues anyways. You need to get this taken care of. To be honest, most women I know can't go a few hours with a yeast infection much less days. I know you are scared but this has to be taken care of. No one will think less of you. Your mother gets them, your doctors get them, all women get vaginal infections. Doctors are trained to deal with these issues. They do not judge you, they do not think it is gross.

You need to tell your mom, at least that way you can get over the counter medications to help. Just know, if you don't go to the doctor for yeast infection medications, the meds you get without a prescription have to be inserted into the vagina. The doctor can prescribe a pill. Your choice.

You should let your mom know she is your mom there is nothing to be embraced about she could take you to the gynecologist there could be another under laying problem.

My mom will make a big deal about it and I dont want that. Also there is no way I am letting a stranger look down there. No way.

Well they are professionals your going to have to eventually.

Doctors see this on a daily basis. I am not kidding. You will not be the first 14 y/o with this problem and you sure as heck will not be the last.

I can't buy anything without my mom finding out she looks through my stuff daily and knows hoe much money I have an when I spend it and what I spend it on. I need like home remedies?
Report as
There aren't any home remedies. Buy the stuff and use it at a friends house or at school or something.
Report as
If you won't tell your mom and you can't buy it, then to put it bluntly you are screwed. The longer you wait the worse it will get. They do not just go away. There may be a "home remedie" to ease the pain slightly, but none would cure it.

Tell her you bought snacks or something she wont strangle you to the you the thruth

The best thing to do would be to just go to the doctor. They sell stuff at the drug store that can help but all it does is treat the symptoms. It doesn't cure it and it could be something else besides a yeast infection. Monistat has a test thing you can buy that will tell you if it is a yeast infection or possibly something worse.

My first question is have you had sex? If you have you may have contracted gonorrhea which have the same symptoms as a yeast infection. Id get it checked right away. You can go to the local health dept w/o your mother and be checked. They do not charge and they will not release info to parents if you go on your own.

the best thing you could do is tell your mother, have the guts to do it. Although it may sound embarrassing just tell her, by the way she is only your mother. Go to a doctor and get it cured. and from now try telling your mom about such things, you and your mom would feel open to each other.....

There is always yeast in our bodies, it gets out of hand when there is an imbalance. It doesn't necessarily mean you have done anything wrong. While yeast infections can be transmitted sexually, that is not always the cause. And young girls today often like to share clothing, even down to intimate undergarments. While most organisms can't be transferred through clothing. Yeast can, because it can be reactivated by moisture. So if you are sharing clothing, i.e. (pants, tights or underwear please stop). A good at home remedy is a vinegar and water douche. Do this 3 X for 1 week say on Mon. Wed. & Fri. If by the weekend it has not improve, it's not just a normal yeast infection and you need to tell your mom, so she can set up a gynecological exam for you immediately, something could be wrong.

My health teacher said those are really bad for you so I don't feel comfortable using one.
Report as
Yes most modern teachers and even some Doctors say it isn't good. I am not talking about douching everyday, and cleansing every once in awhile does no harm. However if you feel uncomfortable with it don't! But you really need to discuss this with your mom.
Report as
yes and you are a virgin , so that is not my first sugestion. Please just have a talk with your mom..there is a pill your doctor can prescribe only 2 days, 2 pills..Like I said the health dept will help you anonmously
Report as
Ahh, I didn't read your earlier post Cynthia. No I would definitely NOT suggest douching for a virgin. Sorry my sweet, it is off to the doctor with you. We all had to go that first time, not as bad as you think. Good luck sweetie, hope all turns out well for you.
Report as
Douching is absolutely, never recommended for anyone. It can and likely will make things worse.

Does anyone consider the fact that diseases and all kinds of strains of infection, seem to have increased with the decline of this basic hygenic technique? I am all for modern medicine, please don't get me wrong. But I have to say hmmmm.....everytime I see a commercial advertising: HAS ONE OF YOUR LOVED ONES DIED FROM USING AVANDIA? Just saying modern medicine is great, but it ain't perfect, sometimes you have to make a call for yourself.

vaginal infections is what I am speaking of.
Report as
No one is advocating some crazy medication, but douching has been shown to not only be not helpful it can make women more prone to these infections. Douching disturbs the normal flora and delicate balance inside the vagina.
Report as
Can't prove it by me, that's all I am saying. To each their own. I have been using this basic hygenic technique since puberty and I, me personally have had none of the infections or disturbances. All paps normal, all cycles normal, my balance is undisturbed. I have never been one to follow the status quo, just because someone else said so. I go on my own personal experience. And no I didn't say anyone was advocating anything, but if a doctor prescribes something (pill or technique) that makes me feel bad or ill, I will not continue it just because he has a PHD behind his name. Graveyard is full of those people. That's all I'm saying... :)

Well, there really isn't anything you can do. It is just going to get worse if you don't get to the doctor. Your choice, your life, your yeast infection. You can chose to do to the doc and get rid of that yeast infection OR don't go to the doc and allow your yeast infection to get worse( I do not suggest this option). Whatever, seeing your comments, you are obviously stubborn and you probably won't go to the doctor. You need to listen to all the people answering your question, because they are way more experienced and smarter and will help you. listen to them, tell your mom, go to the doctor.
Report as
Tottalytalie is right you need to stop being so stubborn and just go to the doctor you can go to the health department for free and it is confidential and your mom doesn't even have to know. If you do not get this taken are of it will just get worse but whatever it's your life suffer if you want but do not ask a question if you don't want the answer.

You should tell your mom. However I know a great cure. See when you are diabetic and your numbers are all crazy you can have a constant yeast infection. Mine lasted a little over a year. Then a doctor told me to use plain yogurt. Seriously! Not vanilla, ONLY plain. You use it, you don't eat it. It actually works!

Your only option really is the doctor. Yeast infections can be quite common, my daughter got one when she was only 3. It was caused by anti-biotics. I myself get them if I use anything with perfume or dye down there, I got one once from my mom changing dryer sheet brands.
Your gonna have to do something though, eventually your mom will notice you consistently scratching at your crotch area....just saying.
It's really not a big deal, my daughter is your age. A yeast infection doesn't mean you've been having sex, you probably aren't even allowed to date yet, it means your body's ph system is out of wack and it's needs to be fixed. True for women of any age. Oh yeah, check your tampons and pads, scented ones can cause yeast infections also.
BTW- it will start to smell. Just a heads up there.
I wish you luck.

Sedai has a important point, these infections happen for so many reasons and all women get them! ALL WOMEN at one point will get a yeast infection.

Its clear you are not going to tell your mom, you don't have money to buy a potential remedy , and you won't go to a doctor . Basically , you are SOL. find someone , friends mom? You need to accept assistance to get better, bottom line .

First of all you need to tell your Mom,because you don't even know what you got. Your'e starting off the wrong way, your Mom should be the first person to know ANYTHING that's wrong with you. You might need to be seen by a doctor young lady. You need to take care of that soon as possible.
