Why did they change the slipper color from the wizard of oz book from the movie

i need to know very very quickly

They changed it because it was better on Technicolor TV. Visual effects are really important in making a movie plus it's okay for them to change a few minor details.

Because the red shoe showed more brightly on technicolor tv. The silver was too drab. I will try to find the sight I read it on for u.

They changed it in the screen play from the silver in the book to "Ruby" because the bright red had a better visual effect in the colored movie.
