You WILL get used to the mask, I promise. Just be sure to stick with it religiously. I recommend starting to use it as soon as you get the equipment, but if you have a couple of days off work that would be the ideal time to get started with it. The mask has to fit very snugly for obvious reasons, and it can make sleeping difficult for the first couple of nights. The "white noise" that the machine generates takes a bit of getting used to as well. Once you get used to it you will be amazed at how much more energy you have. You cannot get rested if your body is constantly waking you up because you don't have enough oxygen getting into your system. Good luck!
You should just take the medication that was prescribed by the doctor. Following your CPAP test, you will use the mask until you manage sleep apnea. You will enjoy the medication and the benefits of the machine with time.
