What if there was a God really out there that just wasn't the god from any religion we've ever had?

Report as

Then we wouldn't know about him/her

If you believe that, you might be a deist. You should look into the deist belief system :)

We should concentrate on the God who has revealed Himself to us. He is the one that really matters.

Your God hasn't revealed himself to everyone. Only a select few.
Report as
He has revealed Himself to us in three ways: in creation, in His Word, and in His Son, Jesus Christ.
Report as
I have not experienced him. They are all just stories and myths to me. In no way is it any more real than Allah of the Q'ran, Shiva, or Zeus.
Report as
Well then, you need to prove it to yourself.
"Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will hear you. You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you, declares the Lord,.." Jeremiah 29:12-14

I have done this to the best of my abilities and it dissapoints me with the wait i endure waiting for his response. I have decided he either 1) isnt there or 2) just appears to certain people.
Report as
I don't know what response you seek. There is a children's prayer which simply states a truth:
"God always listens whenever we pray,
He's never too busy to hear what we say."
Report as
Well apparently its not true or it is not true for everyone. Otherwise everyone would be christian.

"Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few" (Matthew 7:13-14). The narrow way is the hard way, the demanding way. It is the way of recognizing that you cannot save yourself and must depend on Jesus Christ alone to save you. It's the way of self-denial and the cross.Jesus knows that many will choose the wide gate and the broad way which leads to destruction and hell. Correspondingly, He said that only a few will choose the narrow gate. According to Matthew 7:13-14, there is no doubt that more will go to hell than to heaven.

Then it looks like that perfect God of your's plan of his was destined to fail from the start.
Report as
It is our choice what path we take, and we must live with those choices for eternity.
Report as
Are you a robot?
Report as
If God wanted automatons who bowed to His will mechanically, He could have made us that way. Instead He chose to give us free will and the ability to choose our own path -- but, without real options, there can't be a real choice. Put another way, a "choice" isn't much of a choice when you have a gun to your head.
Report as
I think like thay last part you mentioned kind of says that God isnt as loving as you'd think. It isnt really a choice. Its either worship, an unknown being that you cant experience with any natural sense, me or burn in hell. Thats worse than a gun to your head. Its black and white. Its completely outragous and thats why i asked the question. Apparently this God is pretty flippin out of his mind and its time to move on. I dont mind if a new God comes along but this God is one of the most absurd if not the most i have ever heard of. He has his men stone a man to deathfor picking up sticks on a sunday.

This is a perennial question, that is invalid. The right way to look at it is, that choices have consequences. You are thinking that you can do whatever you want, and not be held responsible. You can choose one car over the other, if one is a lemon, its a lemon. You choose the car, you have to live with it. If you don't want to go to hell, then you can choose not to. I have a choice to go out and rob a bank. What comes with that is prison time, because of what I did. Just because you don't like the punishment, doesn't invalidate it. God demands righteousness, but we can't save ourselves, so He provided that righteousness that is given to us because of Jesus. He didn't have to do that, we would all end up in hell. But He gave us that gift.
Report as
You think of everything as black and white. Just because i don't think something exists doesnt mean the consequence for me is hell. Thats senseless. If i told you that you had to believe in santa clause because he loves you and you dont believe in him because there is blatent evidence that disproves him its the same thing. You look at something and automatically think its true or false. Wrong or right. You sound like a robot which is why i asked you before. It appears as if you have no personallity and are lost in a trance that God is the only answer to everything. Its to people like you i asked my original question "what if there was a god that nobody knew of yet?" This is because there has been so much contradiction in religions and by asking this i am not saying there is no God. Its just your god doesnt seem to be accurate. So far i have not been presented by anyone with realistic explanation to this god so stop. Move on with your day. Because this isnt getting anywhere.

There might be- its the only god that could be I think. These crude gods pitched to us as saviors and messiahs are as base and vulgar as worshiping Justin Beiber as a deity. I'd sooner cut off my nose then lend credence to those gods now. It's pretty likely if a god does exist that it has no appreciation spiritually for a bible or Koran.
