How can I discover redundancies in my programs content or old programs that are no longer relevant so that I can uninstall them.

I feel reducing the am't of clutter in my programs may speed up my computer. It's a Dell with quite a large memory(164 Gigs, so not much relative space is being used(31 Gigs). There's a LOT of computer 'traffic'
around my home that may be slowing it down a bit, and my speed with
my provider is 12 mbps, so it isn't slow by any means.
