my baby was 6 wk premature. his apgars were 8&9. he failed hearing screening. went to audi, he passed, now they want to test aud neuropathy?

His Apgars were excellent, his hearing turned out to be fine, and chance are that the neuropathy tests will turn out fine too. They're just ultra-cautious with preemies so that they can catch any issues early and address them quickly if necessary. We have lots of preemies in my family, some much more premature than yours, and they have all turned out healthy and normal in every way (well, as normal as they can be coming from my family nut tree). You and your family are in my prayers... and no matter what, you have a beautiful baby who has your love... and that is everything. Blessings...

Thank you so very much. The NICU always referred to him as a "Feed and Grow." He was in the NICU for seven days. We are so worried. We just want him to be happy and develop speech.

I was born 12 weeks early and mostly everything is fine with me. The doctors should be watching the kids lungs and heart more then anything. If I was you I would rather have a child with bad hearing then no child at all. If the baby's heart and everything else seems fine now that could change. Best of luck for you and your family
