Do you think Hurricane Sandy will have an impact on the upcoming presidential election?

Report as

Yes obama might finally step in and try looking like a hero. Than he'll use it to TRY winning. But i hope that man loses by a landslide.

Why? Are you a Republican?
Report as
Yes im a republican... But that being said, i dont paticularly like Romney all that well, but i feel like he might do better for this nation.
Report as
Linster - Not to be rude but not only Republicans like Romney. :P
Report as
I am a Democrat! It's fine with if you are a Republican But let me tell you something Romney changes his words every day! All he does is blame Obama and does NOT take responsibility of anything!
Report as
Linster - I never said you aren't a democrat.
.
Can you give me some examples of what you say about Romney?
Report as
Did you watch the Presidential debates? If you did, then you would NOT be asking me that?
Report as
Marcus. I can give you examples. Dems wanted single payer health insurance (dating from the Clinton's) GOP pushed individual mandate based on romneys plan in Mass. Now Romney and GOP hate the plan. Mitt used to be pro choice, now he isn't. He used to be moderate, now he's right wing.
In addition to which he claims he did great stuff in Mass but Mass was 47th in job creation, he raised every fee and his approval rate was 20% when he left.
Report as
Yeah, obama has a plan, but how much of it has he accomplished. The healthcare BS. thats gunna kill the economy even more, and obama wants to raise taxes. How is that getting us out of our delima? I think it doesnt.
Report as
Boo153 , I'm glad to see that Romney is willing to see the light and change his position on such things as you mentioned. Refreshing to see a politician admit he was wrong for a change .
By the way Happy Halloween ! It's a good day to be liberal with all the chocolate laying around waiting to be enjoyed. The real fright night will be next Tuesday. BOO !
Report as
Then he must be wrong everytime he speaks. How terrible it would be to have Romney in office and have him

ROMNEY ALL THE DAYAM WAY funny fact: Obama costems were sold 30%more than Romney costems I gess 4 more years of Obama must be that much scarier !
Report as
Obama wants to tax people proportionately. I would understand if that meant everyone pays 10%, but what it really means is the poor pay 10% and a richer person might pay 40%. My dad pays 60%. It's said if the government were to stop all rich income, the American economy would completely collapse in 45 days; "tax the rich, feed the poor, till there are no rich no more" seems to be the song Obama goes by, but once the rich are taxed broke, where are the poor going to get their food?
Report as
im confused with youre trying to get
Report as
In Obama's thought process the rich should be the poor's cornerstone; since there are less rich in America than there are poor, the rich can't handle giving money to all the poor; eventually the rich go broke and then everyone is poor. Where do we get our income then?
Report as
Ok so no to Obama ?

Report as
Linster and Boo - Obama is the head of the military. Even though congress has a say in what the military does, the president orders most of it. Not too long ago there was an attack on an American embassy in Libya involving the deaths of multiple soldiers and an ambassador, the killers being Libyan terrorists. Two soldiers fought off terrorists for 9 hours with help being one hour away while Obama denied the help all those 9 hours. After the attack the Obama administration covered up the situation by saying the attacks were an uproar by Libyan citizens who were offended by an American film that ridiculed their religion. Obama apologized to Libya for the film being released - the apology being an act against free speech -, disregarding the fact that they committed an act of war by killing an ambassador.

Marcus, let me tell you something. I am a Muslim and Muslims take their extremely seriously! When it comes to our religion, we don't put up with any nonsense! No matter it comes from! Americans take their own religion so lightly that they make fun Jesus all the time and they claim it's the freedom of speech! Religion is NOT something you should make fun of because it is extremely disrespectful! I feel sorry for American ambassador(s), clearly they did NOT deserve that! But religion is an extremely sensitive thing and people should respect it!
Report as
Linster - Firstly the attacks didn't regard the video at all so I can say this is a bit off subject but I'll go along. I'm religious too (not Muslim) and I would never make fun of God or Jesus; but at the same time I wouldn't want to be able to put someone in jail because they made fun of my religion. Yes religion is very sensitive, but so are rights and I would never take anyone's fair rights away.

Any event like this affecting the nation is bound to have an influence on a national election.
Some will claim Obama as a hero even though he's just pulling same pursestrings any president would do in the same situation. Some voters may be too preoccupied to get to the polls.
The governors have the real task of getting things back to normal. Obama will use the storm destruction to boost his claim for Federal gov't duty and ability to take care of all our needs.

Absolutely, with no power for millions and millions for an expected seven days, this could impact people's ability to get somewhere with power to vote, and not only that, you need to vote in your registered district.
We could very well see history by the election getting pushed back until the east coast can join in for their rights to vote.

Ladywood - Why would the republicans want to suppress any votes? They're all about freedom, not to mention just about every soldier (who according to some people are getting their ballots postponed by Obama) want Obama out of office.
Report as
Kookiegirl - I hope the election is held back!
Report as
Marcus, me too!!! It's everyone's freedom to vote, it shouldn't be taken away because of disaster, even if it won't make a difference, it's based on electoral votes, it's still everyone's right.
Report as
I have a friend in New York and another in Florida. I have no idea how they're doing.

Not every soldier is for Romney! Are you serious? Please. I hope they hold it back for them also.
Report as
Ladywood - I said just about every soldier. My brother's friend is in the army, he's voting for Romney and he says EVERY soldier is voting the same (I say "just about every soldier" to be safe) and I've never met a soldier who likes Obama.
Report as
Marcus, I usually will not discuss politics with friends, I feel everyone has a right to their own opinion, but I will be voting for Obama.
His Health Care Reform scared me at first, I thought it could possibly cost me my job, and it very well could in the end, but, I guess nothing's forever. I feel like he needs four more years to make a difference, anyone who walked into the mess he did would.
Report as
Kookiegirl - Not discuss politics? With friends? Right to their own opinion? Has? (Jk). Kookiegirl I talk about politics all day every day and one thing I've learned is the fact that everyone has a right to their own opinion is why you SHOULD debate. It lets people see your view, it lets you see theirs, it gives you more insight, it gives you an opportunity to speak your mind. Politics don't have to be dirty; I see dems and reps talking peacefully about it very often. It's not arguing, it's conversing. And as my dad says, no one would know how to think without the other view.
.
Obama said himself if he didn't have the economy fixed in the first 3 1/2 years of his time in office, he would propose a one-term presidency. If he can turn around the healthcare system in three years he should be able to complete one of America's biggest goals. One last thing, every president faces just as much a mess as this one. The only difference is Obama hasn't got anything done.
Report as
We want to treat Obama like we are treating the children in school . Even if you don't score many points in a game you still get a prize . In obama's case you get 4 more years in office.
What have we come to in this country?
Report as
Marcus, you have to keep in mind, he can't make decisions all by himself, if he could a lot more things could have been corrected. He can however try to accomplish change only to get voted down by congress, he might be the President, but he's not a miracle worker, but that's what everyone expected. The exact same future Romney will face against the dems in congress.
I'm in no way saying I'm not open to change, I'm very skeptical of Romney, he doesn't feel solid to me, but even with that said I feel like they both have things going on that they don't want to share with the American people, like, what they both hold shares in over seas, for me, if your truly American, why go out side your country thats struggling to buy company's or hold stock shares? Money? Both have issues in that department. In the end, regardless of who wins not all will be happy. I'm smart enough to know what will be, will be.
Report as
Celebrity - I agree. Lol.
.
Kookiegirl - You're talking about the congress that passed Obama's bill without reading it, endorsed the Al Jazeera news channel from the same place Obama supports, and covered up a terrorist act with Obama.
.
I know it's honorable to keep your money in America but it's not illegal otherwise and a president/candidate doesn't have to release their tax information.
Report as
Your right, but they should. If your going to lead America, you should have your holdings in America, if not, it's basically saying you have no faith in America. Both are guilty in that regard.
As far as congress, I highly doubt they would ever pass anything without reading it, they always wanna fight about everything.
My views are still open, but quite honestly, I don't trust either fully.
I think Romney needs more work on foreign affairs.
Report as
You're right about taxes. Have you heard of Fair Tax? I love the idea. It will fix so many things and catch people who hold their money overseas.
Report as
Hillary Clinton herself said "We need to pass this bill before reading it to see what it's like."
Report as
Just a little perspective for you both. I am 30 years old college educated at two of the best universities in the nation (In my opinion) I work hard every day. My boss can’t afford to contribute to medical coverage for me and I can’t afford it on my own. I like many other people in this nation go day to day praying that I don’t get sick, because I cannot afford to see a doctor. When the republican congressional members decided that they would walk out instead of trying to come up with a suitable medical plan for people like me, I was disappointed. I felt like they didn’t care. Say what you want to about Obamacare, I for one was hoping for it to come to pass.
Report as
Brock, I'm sorry, I don't understand your last three sentences.
Report as
kookiegirl you point out some good things. I am still amazed that so many people expected immediate results after Obama inherited the incredible mess that Bush left behind! I lost my savings, health insurance AND my health, including my ability to work BEFORE Obama was in office--I certainly haven't expected everything to suddenly get better in just four years.

If Romney gets his way w/ dispensing w/ Planned Parenthood, I will no longer be able to easily access health care regarding mammograms & ovarian care. (I do not need any type of pregnancy prevention.) I live in a rural area 100 miles from similar, but far more expensive health care. How many other Americans have experienced similar experiences--I can't even afford a computer now--that do not have any health care like Planned Parenthood if it dissappears
Report as
Olga - Obama changed the healthcare system in four years, I don't see why he can't change anything else.

Why marshall is so desperate to falsely attribute these to these comedians ... I can't guess. The jokes are too mediocre for most of those guys to do something so lame. And who believes the whole Q and A format, either? That's not how these comedians work. The Leno ones are far more mean spirited than he is, too.

But I did see the kinds of right-wing sites you copied the list from. Do you have to be dishonest even about jokes?

Yes, because it will focus more attention on the issue of climate change. Both candidates have ignored this in their campaigns until now, but Sandy has been a cold slap in the face for everyone. He might be a little sincere ( at times,) but he is not to be trusted to lead this country for four more years. He is NOTt a leader. His track record says it.
