Is Star Wars episode 7 going to be terrible?

Disney bought Lucas films and immediately announced episode 7. I'm worried that Mickey Mouse as a Jedi won't be that great. What was the last decent movie Disney made that wasn't a cartoon. I'm worried about the franchise.

Buddah......sorry to say, but I was never overly impressed by Star Wars to begin with.....as for sequels and prequels, well, if there is a story that can do'em, it's Star Wars.....but yeah, seems to me that there is no choice for the movie to be anything but terrible

Yeah. I've been looking what Disney has made and it doesn't look good.

I don't see how you people who don't like the Stars Wars series can come on here and waste the time of newbuddah13 when you can not be objective.

His question was not intended for those that do not like the other movies but for those of us who did.

I have no problem with you not liking the Sar Wars movies but the question was not whether you liked the Star Wars movies or series but whether you thought Disney could do a good job on the upcoming movie.

So while all you Star Wars haters come on here complimenting one another with your helpful votes you are being anything but helpful to the person who is asking the question.

No, it is going to ROCK! I heard Princess Ariel is going to fall in love with the son of Luke Skywalker and they will both live as mermaids under the sea! JK Hopefully Lucas has some kind of creative control over the story, so at least he can object if they try to change it.

Well.... it probably could get worse... imagine a Jar Jar Binksathon, usually authors have some control though, so lets keep our fingers crossed

I actually liked the last movie that came out for Star Wars. It was still a bit too campy cheese doodle for me but not as bad as the other two. Especially the Phantom Menace.

I have a feeling George Lucas's creative influences were squelched a bit from outside pressure. I am sure he was told to go the way he did to sell to the youngest possible audience. Thus product merchandising.

The funny thing is that the first three movies were not near as campy cheese doodle as the last three but kids still purchased a lot of toys and other items from the series. It is amazing how the so called experts control crap and really have no idea. They forget to cater to those of us who buy our kids stuff to begin with. As if we don't purchase stuff for ourselves from movies we watch. Including great music from the movies soundtracks.

Probably not as terrible as the next "Indiana Jones" (which Disney now owns too) I can't wait to see Harrison Ford cruising the jungles of South America in his hover-round...

Well if Harrison Ford is replaced with another well liked and popular actor of similar appearance the movie could be good. The series has always been family friendly and Disney does family friendly better than anybody.

If the James Bond movies can remain popular with all the different actors playing James Bond than I could see the Indiana Jones series doing well with new actors playing the lead part. It is not the stories that are old after all it is simply much of the original cast. I could see the franchise doing well under Disney under my scenario.

Star Wars under Disney is another story. I don't see Star Wars as a Disney "family friendly" type of series.

George Lucas was able to do most of the movies without being too campy. I am afraid Disney will follow along the lines of the one cheese puff campy crap Lucas did put out with Phantom Menace.

Who cares? The sheep people will go to see it no matter what. The latest 3 were awful (the last one, when he turned into Darth Vader had a great ending, but that was it). If you want to watch a good blockbuster movie series, go watch The Hobbit! It's coming out in December!

Honestly, I don't know what to tell you. Some of Disney's recent animated movies have been a bit pathetic. They've got to keep the heart and soul of star wars in it, otherwise star wars is going to flop.

Disney Bought Lucasfilms? Well, i dont know. But i can guarantee you that there will be less violence than the original 3. by that i mean no burning of anakins face or spurting of that aliens blood in the mos eisley bar scene. but I hope they bring back some of those Droideka droids, those ones that roll into a ball and have an electric shield they are awesome

Helpful (1) Fun (1) Thanks for voting Comments (1)

Yes disney bought Lucasfilms. The new movie will probably be way way way less violent (just cuz c'mon this is Disney we're talking!) But if they got rid of those droids, i don't see the point in it anymore.

Well, all the movie companies that Disney have bought, in recent years, have had nothing but success. Case in point, Pixar and Marvel. Neither have made flops, and their worst movies still turn out fun to watch, and maybe though provocative.

just wait and see, you cant just say something is terrible without giving it a try. but if they pick horrible actors to play the characters (like Justin beiber playing Luke, though he isn't an actor...) then it may suck.

It's Disney, the Stormtroopers will shoot rainbows, lightsabers will be made of candy, and Luke will preach morality and crap while subliminal messages play in the background. Don't believe me about the subliminal messages? Look it up. Anyways, 7 is going to be utter crap, no other possibility when Disney comes into play

My only question is whether they are going to stick to the original story line. In the last 3 book of the 9 book series, hans and leia have twins, both are trained by luke as jedi, luke rebuilds the jedi order and twins face off against each other as one of them becomes the new sith.

Thank you for sharing this info. I never read the books. I am no longer able to appreciate the concept of visualizing stories in my mind as I read books.

I would like to think that the story for the movie follows closely to the book.

With Disney being involved they may make it cotton candy fluff. I hope they show they can do a movie of this kind and cater enough to adults that we can enjoy it. I realize the violence alone will make it PG 13 but still they could dumb things down and script it to be too family friendly. I will watch it none the less and hope that they do it with enough "good" fight scenes and a story that we adults can enjoy.

It is hard to take the opinions of people who don't even like the Star Wars movies seriously so why waste the time of the person who asked the question?

To answer your question I am a bit apprehensive but just for the fact that I was always curious as to what happened to everybody after Return of the Jedi I will watch it. If I am still alive and able. Otherwise I will be in Heaven enjoying the talented entertainers who left us here on earth. ;)

In other words, if it sucks you will have wasted no more than a little money and time.

When you look at stuff like Hurricane Sandy and other terrible events in life it would seem to me a disappointing time at the movies is better than some other things you could be dealing with.

I will watch the movie when it comes out even though I am certain it will be no more than a pg "good for all kids" farce.

It is Disney after all and they will want to market to as young an audience as they can.

Take from that whatever you will. I won't fault you if you decide not to watch the movie.

Really? People are worried about whether or not the next Star Wars movie will be good just because Disney bought Lucasfilms? What decade are you in? Disney has bought and operated A LOT of film companies over the past, oh, roughly THIRTY years, starting with Touchstone back in the 80s, moving on to Miramax in the 90s, more recently Walden Media, and so on, and has churned out a slew of massive blockbusters from every corner. Do not doubt that they know how to cater to audiences of ALL ages and genre preferences. Besides that, don't you think their big business execs fully realize that trueness to the original pictures is an absolute must if they want a success and not a flop? I think the last 3 Star Wars pictures did a good job of maintaining the balance between trueness to the originals and modernizing the franchise for a new era (with the exception of Jar Jar Binks, who was quickly eased out of the storyline in response to the disapproval of the fans), and I believe the next 3 will be great, too.
