God never leaves us, nor forsakes us, that is His Promise to us. But, He also wants us to lay down our life for Him, as in making Him the Lord of our life...first Priority. He wants us to love Him with our whole heart and being. In doing so, His disires are our desires. We will not want to fulfill the selfish desires we used to have more than wanting to please Him and abide in that Peace He gives to His children when we abide in His Will. The Bible mentions backsliding and it does also say that on the day of judgement, many will be turned away. some of these are ones who thought they were His. So, yes, we can walk away from God through sin and rejecting His conviction...but He Never leaves us. We all vary in spiritual maturity. The Lord keeps growing His Children in their life, but when we ignore His Promptings and are in disobedience to them, we are turning our backs to Him, not Him turning away from us. He is patient and longsuffering and helps us through these things and will give us His Grace to help us. But, I've read nothing in the Bible when reading All scriptures on the topic that tells me that we cannot end up missing Heaven.
1 Peter 3-4 In His great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade- kept in heaven for you ....
