My English Springer Spaniel 7 month old pup has two sets of testicles. is this normal?

sometimes it appears that the two sets join up and his testicles are quite big for such a small puppy/dog. my husband says the second pair, when they appear, are a backup.

I would take him to the vet.. It could be more serious than u think. I hope everythng is ok :)

well we did consider this but knowing what vets are like (a bit like hairdressers, scissor happy!) they may just say 'cut them off!' and we dont really want any unnecessary surgery for little puppy!

He's only a baby right now, but you don't know what the long term affects can be as he matures. Let the veterinarian advise you on what to do. They cannot do any cutting without your permission.

It is not normal for any type of a dog to have two sets of testicles. You should take him to a vet since he might require an operation to remove the one that is not necessary in his body since only one set is needed.

well this is what we want to avoid. it seems the extra pair appear when he needs to urinate. then they disappear.

You need to see the vet! Then you can make a more informed decision. No vet will do any cutting without your permission, but you need to take the right course of action based on the vet's diagnosis.
