What is a good moisturizer for dry skin?

I'm 15 and I have dry skin on my arms and occasionally my face. What is a good moisturizer that won't clog my pores or give me acne?

our family has the same dry skin problems and the suggestions already made are good ones-- Vaseline, Baby Oil (which is mineral oil and virtually all lotions have it as a base ingredient) Cornhusker, Lubriderm and Lanolin we have used...the others we have not used, but i have others tell me they like them...most of these we use at night, because they are more of a thicker type of lotion and do not soak in as fast as a more 'watery' moisturizer type of lotion...for this type we use the hand lotion made by Amway...it applies evenly and soaks in within a matter of seconds to minutes...there is no 'greasy' feel to it...so we use it during the day...

another one we use at night is Aquaphilic..an ointment designed especially for dry skin...another thick ointment i use mainly at night...it used to be only obtained by prescription, but is now readily available from pharmacists by asking for it...many pharmacists use it as a base for prescribed ointments, especially when adding steroids for allergic type skin problems...costs about $10 and will last many months...

many of our family members have Eczema or atopic dermatitis...you can look it up on the Internet, and what is found there are generally the extreme cases...the milder situations only have spotty dry skin...usually on the hands, arms, elbows...that may or may not be itchy...this is an indication of an allergy to something...either breathed in (Eczema is common in asthmatics) or by contact...commonly from clothing (look at laundry detergent, wools, cottons, polyesters) or by using harsh hand soaps (use those with lotion, Aloe vera, lanolin) or bathing soaps (many people use a soap with lotion, i have heard that Ivory soap is also good)...however many people are allergic to the perfumes in the lotioned soaps, so read the ingredients list to not have perfume in them...Lanolin, is one of natures best hand lotion...a person could probably rank Aloe vera up towards the top also as a medicinal treatment...

if all of the above lotions and ointments do not work, then ask your doctor to rule out Eczema by giving you a prescription for the Aquaphilic with steroid in it...if your doctor does not want to do this, there are small ointment tubes with corticosteroid available Over The Counter you can try very sparingly on spots that are worse than others to check it out. if they become healed sooner than the spots not used by the steroid then i would say that would be a diagnosis of a mild type of eczema...But Be Careful Not To Use Too Much of the Steroid Ointment, at one time or over a period of time, because there can be many side effects that are not good...study up on them...there will be a test - at some point in your life...

I'd use Corn Huskers, Gold Bond, Suave, Vaseline...lots of good ones. ;) In my opinion Gold Bond is the best because it doesn't irritate my sensitive skin, drys quickly, and smells great.

Store bought lotions are full of water & will dry you out, eventually. You're kitchen may have excellent culinary oils available and they're cost effective as a little goes a long way: olive, avocado, walnut, sesame. Hemp seed oil absorbs nicely. Greasing up (hair and face too) just before you hop in the shower is helpful. All natural is better but baby oil is awesome.

Use natural products in your skin, drink enough water (2-3 liters/day). mixed 5 different oil like grape seed oil, pumpkin seed oil, olive oil, almond oil, castor oil ...
Mixed and used this internal (one spooned in every day) not only external.
