In USA, why don't they change election day?

the east coast is under way to much to vote, so its not fair. millions of people that normally vote, cannot. Dont you think it would be fair to change it?or pointless? also, what if both pres. get same amount of votes?

It shouldn't be changed! I really do feel for those people who were effected by the storm, but they can still vote! And plus it doesn't need to be change for the whole nation just for a few thousand people! As I said I do feel for those victims! They are in my thoughts and prayers, but I believe the date of the election should not be changed!

If the voting stopped for the east coast it would have to stop for other types of events also and it would be difficult to determine what those events would be. It would need to be determined beforehand and even then it would be questionable.

Fair has never been a factor. If it was fair, it would be a Federal holiday. Many folks that go out & work their buns off are either to tired, on the road, or can't get there in time. It is surprising that a large percentage of folks don't know that early voting is an option

Early voting is in the paper and on the news every day for weeks leading up to the election.

We can already know the date 40 years from now. It's always been the tuesday after the first monday in November in even numbered years.

Also, both presidents could get the same amount of votes, technically, but each state gets a certain amount of electoral college votes, and there is an odd number of those so there couldn't be a tie

You can mail in a vote (absentee ballot) at your leisure if needed. Your elected officials in the US Senate and Congress are actually the ones that vote for the president. The vote by average citizens are simply a suggestion for whom the electoral college (Senate and Congress) should vote. They are not required to take your suggestion though.

I live in New York on Long Island, but i dont believe the whole country should change one of the biggest events, it would be nice but i think it would be way to much of a hassle to get everything figured out and perfect, and i think that itll just make things more complicated

Election Day does not change. It is up to the Gov. of the state to make concession. I heard Christie in N. J. give his plan and I'm sure if the other states need one they'll decide on one. As far as the votes go if both candidates have the same electoral votes then congress decides.
