Why can't i associate myself as an adult?

i am 18 and living in a college dorm, away from my home and i realized that i have to remind myself my age when im around my peers. i feel like in still a child, i don't act like one but i feel very uncomfortable when im speaking with adults i feel as im still a little girl..or even when i see people my age i feel so different and not relatable to them

I felt that way too for the first year of college. That's not weird, you are in the uncomfortable ditch between being an adult and being a child, you'll grow out of it. I remember feeling really uncomfortable wanting to drink coffee around my family when I went home for Christmas break my first year. You're growing mentally, even if you're done physically; be patient with yourself and observe. Mark Twain, I think, said: It is better to keep your mouth shut and be thought a fool, than to open it and remove all doubt." So true! Enjoy yourself, you will grow up and have a million responsibilities way sooner than you think!

Pretty much. Remember when you were a high school freshman? Same thing.

I always had the opposite problem! I felt old when I was a child. I never fit in with people my age. Now that I am old I finally do. It's all in our own heads!

I know what you're going thru.
My first year away from home I felt like the world was a tuxedo and I was a pair of brown shoes. It takes a little time to get in sync with things, but you will. Don't dwell on it. Just relax and let it happen.

Because you're still a kid at heart! :-) Don't worry, it'll phase itself in a little at a time.

It might not just be your age .. but your confidence level. As you establish yourself with your new routine and make new friends, your confidence level will rise, and you will start to feel more comfortable in your new surroundings.
