so it wouldnt be light outside when you sleep. we really do need it because the sun tilts on it's axisand spins. meaning that is why we get seasons. when it is winter north, it is summer south. This also changes when we have light and when we have dark.
It's a pain. And it's the age of electricity in case you haven't noticed, for all of those saying it's to avoid the inconvenience of night. You're scared of the dark and you're trying to figure out how to get 23 hours of sunshine a day? We have LIGHT BULBS, super-genius.
it was originally made to give farmers more time in the day to get there work done most will argue that its now out dated and use less but think most of us eat everyday at least one item that was grown on a farm and that means frames are still around men and woman still work long hours to feed us and themselves. So it’s still needed. Plus its only an hour’s deferens each time so it’s not the worst thing in the world.
It's supposed to save energy costs but the end result is very much debatable. Leave it to politicians to think that by cutting off 1 foot from the bottom of a blanket and sewing it back on at the top of the blanket, that we'd have a longer blanket. :p
Cause people want Americans to have to set their clocks back an hour in the fall and forward in the spring, and their is no point. Just to simply confuse everyone, and Americans are already confused most of the time. Take it from me, I am one!
because of there being so many different time zones ,so it will help to make some of us that has a relative in another state that is one hour behind and we go visit them we will be able to stay a wake with them
Don't quote me on this, because I'm not sure if I remember correctly. I think it has something to do with there not being exactly 24 hours in a day, or not being exactly 365 days in a year. Therefore, they use daylight savings time to account for the missing time.
* To answer a previous comment , there are 365.25 days in a modern calendar year. We compensate for the extra 1/4 (quarter) day by having a leap year. 1/4 x 24 hrs = 6hrs thus every New Year celebration is wrong by 6 hours. * With regards to daylight savings, the government of Peru tried it so as to sync their clocks with their biggest trading partner USA. Peruvians thought this was such an idiotic idea that the general populace refused to change their clocks to match the new government time. The government had no choice but to abandon the idea. Just a thought.
It was originally intended for farmers so they would have "an extra hour" of daylight to work their crops. It's stupid, really, and in my opinion NOT one of Ben Franklin's brightest ideas. But yes, "Only the government would think that you could cut a foot off the top of a blanket, sow it to the bottom, and have a longer blanket." - The Old Indian after being told the reason for daylight savings time.
