How do you multiply and divide with negative powers of 10?

Report as

add or subtract as many zeroes. when you multiply you add the zeroes, when you divide you subtract the zeroes. 50x30= multiply the first numbers in the tens place and add the zeroes, 1500 is the answer. 20/60 cross of the zeroes and divide the tens place, answer is 3. Hope this helps :) if you're working with numbers in the hundreds place, it is the same thing 500x300= 5x3 then add zeroes 150000, then comas after every three numbers working backwards, so its 150,000.

I remember learning this in algebra 1... Whenever you're dividing powers you subtract them and if the exponent is negative you make the answer a fraction by putting the positive exponents on top and negative below

It would help to give us some examples.

10 to the -1 power = one tenth, so multiplying by 10 to the negative one is the same as dividing by 10. Dividing by 10 to the negative one is the same as multiplying by 10.
