I am sorry - we are talking about ASTHMA - a potentially life-threatening condition!!! Lemon tea may ease some of the distress, but it has no therapeutuc potential. The same comments apply to Sage (sore throats) and honey - they ease the distress but are not therapeutic. May I suggest you check out the very useful range of live links your Ask Editors have prepared for you at the top RH corner of this page. There is some truly useful references among that lot....

This is not exactly an herbal remedy but when my Momma was little and had severe asthma an old country Dr. told my Granny and when I was born with asthma Momma did the same thing for me. Applehead chihuahua dogs help, I know it sounds crazy but they take the asthma symptoms away. We had a chihuahua from the time i was born until I was 7 and he passed away with in 1 week I was in the hospital due to my asthma. Needless to say my parents had a puppy at home waiting on me. It doesnt hurt the dog, and has really helped me. If you do decide to do this make sure you get an applehead not a deer leg chihuahua it makes a big difference. Appleheads have a soft spot on the top of his/her head, like a baby, and short legs. Anyway I hope this helps you. Good luck and my prayers are with you! May God bless you.

Allen, I'm lost. Am I supposed to cook the poor little doggie?
Report as
I live in Chicago in Hispanic neighborhood and if I cooked a tiny chihuahua I would be in big, big trouble.
Report as
NO NO NO. You simply have the Chihuahua as a pet. No not cook or harm the dog in anyway what so ever. Just Simply have the dog in your home around you. Mine sleep with me and set with me while im watching tv or whatever. And they help to take away the symptoms of asthma. No please dont ever hurt a poor animal like that. Im sorry if my answer was confusing, i hope i cleared all of that up. Just have the dog as a pet, no harm to them or you!

I take Quercetin and Bromelain. They are both known to work as an anti-inflammatory (asthma is an inflammation of the airways). It usually takes up to 1 hour, but it works without all of the side effects of prescription inhalers. Of course, prevention is the best way to avoid asthma (I know easier said than done and there are some things you can't avoid such as pollen, pets, etc). It would be helpful to find out what you're allergic to and eliminate that (especially food).

Yes - useful suggestions, thank you. Asthma is a potential killer, so it has to be assessed by a Practitioner trained in the management of the MANY different forms of Asthmatic distress.

This is a new one for me. Any references or details you can share, please? Half of my preferred Asthmatic herbs are Ayurvedic already, so I am always interested in a fresh approach....

Oh - I can't speak Indonesian, but I am hoping that Mr Google's translation service does. But thanks for the reference, anyway - anything new is of interest in this field....

Your reference changes to Engliahs as : "
Treating asthma with tamarind - The word asthma and acid seems to have the element of intent in terms of similarity. :) Just kidding .., just back and forth words. This is because herbal medicines are discussed asthma, how to treat asthma with tamarind. Okay, just to tekape, yes! Provide approximately 2 pieces tamarind tree bark. Then also provide pulawaras anise sparingly.
See also: asthma herbal medicine with gotu kola. Boil the two ingredients mentioned above with 1 liter of water until boiling, then after boiling, remove, cool, and filtered. These natural herbs taken 2 times a day.Treating asthma with tamarind - The word asthma and acid seems to have the element of intent in terms of similarity. :) Just kidding .., just back and forth words. Lobelia tincture + Peppermint tea. Remedy can vary from the reason of asthma (if it's allergic or not) and from how long you have it (if it's chronic or not).

Yes, I agree. Psychogenic asthma is also a form of this dreadfukl disease, but has the extraordinary property of being controlled by Clinical Hypnosis. Don't ask - I can't explain it either, but if you can induce an attack under trance, the patient can be freed from their asthma permanently!! Awesome is the word....

I wish. Lobelia isn't legal any more, but it certainly was the best herb for asthma. These days I use a combination of Picrorrhiza kurroa, Albizzia lebbek, Adhatoda vasica and Inula helenium. Licorice, Mullein and Passionflower raises the final remedy to a level of magic you have to experience to believe. Talk to your nearest Herbalist about obtaining your personal supplies.

True. But orthodox drugs are all very poisonous and all asthmatic medication has dangerous side-effects. Alternative medicine IS a genuine option, but each person has to make their own choices.

In the East.. we don't relay on drugs allot.. we have many herbs to use to cure Asthma.. main ingredients are: cloves, honey, genger, fresh origano leafs, anise.. it all works. if not to 100% cure, then at least it makes it less in many cases.
you have to trust nature more, and ask yourself how did our great grand fathers manage to live healthy without drugs and hospitals..

What are your medical qualifications that allow you to say "herbs are not a solution???? My wife and I treated three million people over the decades using herbs and many thousands of those patients had asthma. They all responded magnificently, so I can only suggest your comment is ignorant and ill-informed. Ghadeergh would be interested to know that half the herbs we used treating asthma were Ayurvedic - a system with 5000 years of experience....

Try homeopathy. It's not a herbal remedies, so to say, directly, but based on them.

Hooray for our side!!! Actually, many of the most useful remedies ARE herbal in nature. But Homeopathy takes into account all the individual characteristics of the patient and their asthma. Low-cost, effective, no side-effects....

There is no simple answer here. To treat chronic asthma you need some habits formed in a lifestyle as well as a diet. Breathing exercises, physical activity and avoiding smoke and chemical fumes. For diet things, Spirulina, chlorella, blue green algae, green vegetables, apricot, walnuts are all good as well as omega oils in general. People mentioned lobelia, lemonade, mint tea; these are usually used to accompany vomit therapy or Emesis, not the most pleasant treatment. For daily teas, a mixture of fennel seed, mullein leaf and flower, fenugreek seed, licorice root, propolis, raw honey.

Thankyou. Raw Honey was mentioned, what do you think about that one?
Report as
I just saw raw honey.

Freezie's comments are all valid and useful. Regrettably honey doesn't help much with asthma and can make attacks worse in sensitive or diabetic patients. It is important to know that EVERY asthmatic needs an individual program that covers all their personal needs. There is no "One Way."

Kenneanderthal

Belladonna. It's primary purpose is gastro conditions, but it also interrupts mucous overproduction. Talk to your doctor first. It is a hallucinogen when large quantities are eaten in it's plant form.

We use 'Blue Vervane ' ( or 'Blue Vervain' - spelling tea) from the health food store. It was published in an old book by Jethro Kloss, "back to Nature'. It stops symptoms within the hour, Just a cup of tea , sweetened to taste (with honey or Kayro syrup - it's very bitter). Cover up while you sweat, and you may be tired enough from struggling to breath, to fall asleep. It has kept everyone in my household from going to the hospital.

There is no cure for asthma, but the disease can be controlled in most patients with good medical care. The condition should be taken seriously, since uncontrolled asthma may result in emergency hospitalization and possible death.
