Does the sodium content on canned vegetables include the water?

Yes, I know fresh is better, but I can't seem to get a straight answer. The food label on the can says XXX sodium. To my mind, that would include the water (as some people eat it, as is). But, I never use the water in the can, and completely drain it. Does that reduce the overall sodium? Or does the manufacturer label state the nutrition info based on the product already drained?

Yes, the sodium content listed on the can would include the water also. Since you're draining it, it does reduce the sodium. Another way to reduce the sodium even more is to rinse the vegetables before cooking and eating.
