Obama had nothing to do with a private company going bankrupt. It's not the union's fault. Their pay has been cut every year for the past 3 years. Their pensions have been cut, their medical benefits were cut in almost half. They sacrificed almost $110 Million annually in wages & benefits. The Administration made poor decisions which is why Hostess is going bankrupt. They entered bankruptcy in 2004 and came out owing more money than they started with initially in bankruptcy-something that rarely happens. They had too much debt and could barely pay even the interest on those debts. I would say there's a lot of blame for all but in the end, Hostess' administration brought this on themselves and chose to blame the Union in the media. Some of the statistics and information were taken from: http://m.theatlantic.com/business/archive/2012/11/whos-to-blame-for-the-hostess-bankruptcy-wall-street-unions-or-carbs/265357/
Some company is going to buy out the recipes and make them and the workers well that's there fault now the I implement is going to go up 2% because they had 18,500 workers that's a lot and that's bad the workers must go back to work
Well, I heard Michelle Obama wanted Twinkies to be healthier, to be made with broccoli & carrots. Of course the unions went bananas. (Excuse the pun) Just kidding. The end of an era, for sure. If Hostess is smart they'll sell their recipes to another baker & use the money to pay off their debt. Not so funny, the writing had been on the wall for some time that the company was in trouble. Sad that this union had to risk a stand-off & that it may have finished things off in the eyes of Hostess' Mgmt. Hard to say, depending what you hear. Sounds like they were on the brink regardless. 3,000+ people now out of work. :(
You want him to nationalize bakeries too? You might want to take a good hard look at countries who do these kind of things. Maybe start with Venezuela for a good perspective on how a once vibrant Republic much like America is being destroyed from within.
It was going to go bankrupt either way. It filed for bankruptcy in 2004. Waaaay before anyone knew about Obama. Times change, people are more aware of their health, and Twinkies has been the ultimate mascot for obesity next to chips and soda. Chips resorted to baked versions and diet coke outsells regular coke. There hasn't been any plans for diet Twinkies therefore it's time to go bye bye.
