if it runs good then rough and starts smoking then you should take it to a transmissions mechanic because it sounds like you transmission may be acting up, if it runs good for a couple or few miles and acts rough for a little while then gradually slows down and cuts off, that'll be how you know for sure. I'm not too good with cars so don't assume I'm correct. I just know from an experience. good luck

One other problem could be the injector wiring has rubbed through at the back of the throttle body shifting out one of the injectors, causing the knocking noise. Also make sure you have adequate oil in the engine. Trying to touch all bases.

First, scan the engine for codes, Second, run a fuel system cleaner through the fuel. Third, check the fuel spray at the throttle body, one or both injectors could be leaking. By the way, what color is the smoke? Its color means a lot. Black, excess fuel. Bluish white, oil. White billowing steam, a bad coolant leak into the combustion chamber. Hope this helps.

In yor engine you have a piston going up and down in a cylinder. When the the piston is at the bottom of the cylinder air and fuel is inserted through valves with a spark ( from a spark plug). When it ignites it shoots the piston back up powering your van. What happens oil is leaking into this mix. This why you are burning oil. You have some worn out rings allowing this oil in. A mechanic goes into the heart if the motor to fix this. Lots of taking things apart to get tout and fixing it.
