How do you cope with mixed messages?

Some people I know in my circle of friends have a habit of exaggerating or diminishing certain details about how other people are feeling, and it can get very confusing to figure out what is true or not. I have told them already that if someone has a problem they can talk to me, but for some reason that doesn't seem to stick. How do I get around their truth-tilting?

It's fun listening to people lie. It's just a matter of if you can distinguish between what is real and what is not. I've been around a bunch of phychopaths so I can tell when people are lying.

I haven't mastered that art yet. :( Even with people I'm around a lot, I've not been good with social cues for some reason. Guess I gotta start taking body language lessons!

Maybe it follows under the category of gossip? And gossip does no one good, so the next time you hear them "talking", use that as your judge. Best Wishes.
