pssst. you are my favorite person on this site. just thought I would share that thought.
Report as
Well thank you, you are mine as well. Even thou I don't see much of you anymore!
Report as
Might now. I fixed my computer. Yay again. Weird how I think of you sometimes throughout my day too.
Report as
Well I'll take that then! And that is kind of weird. lol
Report as
I listen to a lot of books and read some too. They make me think that maybe you would like what I am listening too.... in book form.
James Lee Burke was the author I have been wanting to tell you about. I have read one of his books..... but found some others that sound quite interesting.
Report as
The Dave Robicheaux series.
Report as
Oh yes, I totally see that. I think about you in that aspect too then! haha. What kind of books does Burke write?
Report as
The Dave Robicheaux series is about a detective....Dave being the detective, in southern Louisiana. Different stories for each book obviously but.... I like the way this guy writes. He has won some Edgar awards for his books too.
Report as
I'll have to look him up. Kind of been in a reading slump lately, maybe it's because I've been sick. Hopefully back to the old norm here soon. I want to get caught back up on all of Koontz and Kings books. That's going to take awhile.
Report as
Yes it will. If you like Burke then that will add another author to follow. I just bought two of his books this weekend.
Report as
Nice! I still think you should check out Markus Zusak's "The Book Thief".
Report as
I will look him up right now.
Report as
It was such a sad, beautiful story.
Report as
I just added it to my wish list. It kinda goes with the book I am reading right now. Hunting Eichmann. Sounds like a good read and has some really good revues too.
Report as
I'd have to rank it up there as my first or maybe second favorite book.
Report as
I will make it the next book I get.
Report as
I do value your opinion.
Report as
Well you did enjoy the other two books I told you about. :)
Report as
Yes ma'am. That is part of why I value your opinion.
Report as
There really isn't a lot of books I would suggest to people. Except for these three. I can think of a few good ones, but not something I would rave about.
Report as
Oh and "The Dark Tower" series by SK. I always suggest that one too. I think there are eight books in that series. I'm wanting to read them again too.
Report as
You are pretty much the only person I talk books with. Sometimes my Dad and I share books we liked.
Report as
That's one of the many reasons I miss my Dad. He was a crappy dad, but he was my dad. He read a lot. He is the reason I enjoy DK so much.
Report as
Honestly thou, you're the only person I talk books with. I've tried putting together a book club, but none of my friends enjoy reading as much as I do. lol
Report as
The book clubs around here are pretty shallow. People dont understand some of the books or are just plain stupid to start with.
Report as
I am sorry that you miss your dad. I am sorry that he is gone. Mine spends too much time traveling the world so I dont ever get to see him but.... at least he is still around to talk to.
Report as
That's one thing I would be afraid of, if I did end up starting a book club. I want to talk to people who actually understood the book.
Report as
Thanks for that, unfortunately it's part of life. I wish I would have actually gotten to know my dad, as an adult. When he passed I was 24, but still very immature. Didn't really understand the concept of "life is short".
Report as
It is frustrating. I am not the smartest person around but....
Report as
At least you can spell, and can have an intelligent conversation. A lot of people can't even do that. :)
Report as
I understand that. Life IS short. Gets shorter as you get older. Does your husband read? If so, do you guys talk books?
Report as
Thanx.... I do try.
Report as
Nope he's not a reader. So no talking about books. Sometimes, like with "The Book Thief" some of the things in that book are so deep, I couldnt' help but read him some of them.
Report as
and it didnt intrigue him to read the book?
Report as
He just doesn't care to read. I don't know why.
Report as
Oh. I cant imagine NOT reading.
Report as
Reading takes you to a whole new place..... everything changes when you read a different book.
Report as
Oh for sure! I agree with you. It's like an escape from reality. Watching someone else live theirs. (If you find a good enough book), Like "The Dark Tower" series, it's such an amazing different reality, filled with people, animals, weird creatures, and Stephen King. What more could you ask for?
Report as
Someone to share the adventures with you.
Report as
Exactly!
