Why won't my iPod update

I have an iPod 4th gen with IOS 6 and it works fine until I try to update my apps. It will install apps that I buy but whenever I try to update them it just doesn't do anything. Can anyone tell me what I can do?

The reason your iPod won't update could be because of the iTunes version you are using. Since you are on iOS 6, you should ensure that you update to the latest version of iTunes. Consult an Apple technician for assistance.

Is it certain apps you've tried updating or have you tried them all? Have you tried reseting the iPod?
