Some of the higher costs for Bose and similar higher end audio products is to support their large r&d efforts. But these days technology moves fast and so they are definitely not the best bang for the buck. For better deals, check v-moda among other popular brands.
Yes Bose is a great brand but in this economy people are trying to keep there house and also keep food on the table rather than buy Bose. Moreover you can't eat them when you get hungry. Lol they are a good brand just kidding. :0)
Really??? BOSE is terribly overrated and not the best by any means! They charge so much because they spend a ridiculous amount of money on marketing so that you think they are the best. I read somewhere that they spend 10X the amount they spend on R&D on marketing. Looks like it worked because you guys all got fooled!
They are garbage. Here is why I say this. The latest example is from a set of Bose Cinemate 2.1's that my father-in-law bought a few years back. They cost $600 dollars new. They sounded good in the store and he thought, because of all the marketing and the price, that Bose was top of the line. A bit later they moved to a different house and before they hooked them back up I told him to check out this $120 Klipsh Pro Media 2.1. Blew the Bose away, no exaggeration. Real bass, clear mids and crisp highs. People only like their Bose because they have not heard good sound and would feel stupid because of the price they paid. I actually listened to the Bose for the first time a few days ago. I could not even get them to sound any better than just okay even with an EQ on them. I just hooked up a pair of Altec Lansing's 5.1's again (set to 2.1) that I got on sale for $25 in 2005 at target. Again, sounds undeniably better that the $600 Bose. There is a reason Bose will not let their product be displayed next to any others in the store.
