How do I keep my nail polish from chipping?

my sister is really good at painting my nails but they chip off the next day. I love the designs she makes and want to keep them for longer. I hope y'all have some ideas.

Before you apply anything, wipe clean dry nails with alcohol, this gives a very dry, more puris surface and base coat lasts longer.....(and a top coat of clear if you'd like)

you can put the clear top coats? also, i heard that the new gel nail polish, it stays without chipping. you can try that :)

i personally wear fake nails, so you can do that, but instead of the people there doing your nails, you can leave them blank, and have your sister do them :)

it looks just like fake nails, i saw it on someone, and like, i am on my end of my 1st week since i last did refils, and my nails are already chippings, yet, that person i saw with the gel, they had it on 3 weeks.

Wow. cool. do you know where they got it?
Report as
i went to walmart a few weeks ago, and i saw some. maybe try where ever they sell nail polish, even simple places, like cvs or rite aid :)

Try using a higher quality top coat, that will help keep them nice for a little longer. I've heard that a base coat really helps too, but I've never used one on my nails. It's supposed to help your nail polish stick better.

Where could I buy some gel polish and the remover?
Report as
it may be a little hard to find, but I would look in the cosmetic section of any dept. store. you could also have your nails done at a salon but I know that's expensive lately

clear coat. There is also a special spray that strengthens the nail polish and makes it dry faster

I believe you can get it at any store (walmart, walgreens) or go to ur local nail salon. They might have some for you to purchase. My friend had it so I dont really know what its called....sorry!

Apply a clear coat or two over your nails once they are completely dry. You can also get gel nails. They last much longer and do not chip easily at all. I hope that this helps you!

Actually, the more coats you put on the more it will chip, I'd just go for using a more higher brand of nail polish.

Start of with a base coat, make sure it's good quality. Then apply your nail polish after you are sure that the base coat is 100% dry. Apply about 2 coats of the nail polish to keep it strong. Then wait until the nail polish is fully or somewhat dry. Try your hardest not to destroy them while waiting for them to dry. Apply your top coat (a really good quality one) apply about 2 coats. Make sure they fully dry and enjoy your beautiful nails! :)

The hardest part for my is not messing them up while they dry
Report as
It's not easy :( You think they're dry but most of the time they're not. Sometimes you can buy one of those UV light nail dryers to dry your nails quickly! I used one before and it's really easy & not so time consuming.

Paint a clear coat over it, like what emilypoet said, it works for me all the time! The clear will chip instead of the pretty nail-polish!!!!(;

I recommend using shellac. It stays on for three times as long and doesn't chip as long as you don't pick at it.
