Why does people cut there self

there are so many reasons why someone might cut themselves. my friend used to cut herself because there was a fair bit of drama at her house and that was a way to get away from it and i guess to numb the pain. i tried cutting because at the time i just wanted to numb my self pitty and i was angry. i dont do that anymore but when i tried it, it was to numb my pain.

Because they have emotional pain that they can't control so they turn it into physical pain so that they can control it.

Sometimes your just so overwhelmed with depression and emotions that you have no idea how to handle anything, and you just need an immediate release. One way of accomplishing that is by bringing strong physical pain upon yourself that can distract you from your emotional pain.

To some people it's a release form depression. What I mean by this is some people have a hard life and don't know how to Handel there self so they cut there self as a release of the other pain that they might have. There all way the reason why people cut there self is they like the pain.

A) that's extremely stereotypical and obnoxious B) who are you to put a label on ANYONE? And C) you clearly have never been in any form of emotional pain because you seem to think that people would literally lacerate their own skin to follow a trend. Emo isn't a word to describe a person dealing with a mental issue. Emo is a style. Educate yourself and maybe you'd know better.

Some people do it because they hate themself, some because they want some one to see and help them with another problem, or its their way of dealing with what ever is going on.
People who cut themselves are often made fun of for what they do, but to my thats like making fun of someone whose crying or mad, its just their way of dealing with things.
