I'm pretty sure you have to do something to make them fire you in order to collect. And it can't be something unethical or illegal. If you steal office supplies for example you can't collect. If you're fired for poor attendance you can.

Even then sometimes the company fights, and wins. Regarding the poor attendance. :) Have a good Thanksgiving Kenney?
Report as
Well if you look at my previous question you. Will understand y I'm asking

Had a great Thanksgiving. Good meal, the kids got to see both Grandmas and the "Skins beat the Cowboys. Life is grand. You?

I had pizza for supper. HA. My family is celebrating this weekend. Normal day for me, worked even. Holiday pay thou! Score!
Report as
I worked last night and tomorrow night but had tonight off. The only caveat is that I normally work a 13 hour shift and the holiday only pays eight. Still I can't complain about getting eight hours pay for eating turkey and pie and falling asleep on the sofa.
Report as
True that! Any black friday shopping for you?
Report as
No shopping of any kind for me, unless you count filling up the gas tank. We only do gifts for the kids and my wife does their shopping. We keep Christmas small and simple, out of necessity, and honestly our kids seem to be far better adjusted as a result. At the age of eleven my oldest has already grown to appreciate the more nobler aspects of the season that many people don't learn to until much later, if at all. He says he just looks forward to seeing family and getting a few presents.
Report as
That's sweet! :)
Report as
I'm beginning to see that not being able to spoil my kids like I'd have liked to is a good thing. Somebody up there knows what he's doing.

You have to get laid off. If you get fired it is also hard to get unemployment benefits. Under no circumstances will you get unemployment when you quit.

Either way if you quit without a serious reason. health, stress, with proof. they will give you one thing. a mint as they ask you to leave.

i dont know about where you live, but where im living, the only way to get unemployment benefits after working is if you were sacked or if you had a legitimate reason for leaving, like if you were only getting 7 hours a week, or in some cases abusive managers but in alot of these cases i would go talk to someone at the government office so your sure of what the conditions and what sort of proof you need if these things are happening, tell them why you want to leave and see what they think you should do.

You get unemployment benefits if you are laid off, for example by cutbacks. If you are fired for cause, or if you quit, you will not get unemployment benefits. I can assure you that none of the complaints you had will get you unemployment benefits. You'd best be hunting a job and good luck with that, you won't have a recommendation from your last employer and that increases the dificulty of finding work.
