Are all ways of worship ok with God?

or does He have a favorite?

Report as

No, not all ways of worship are acceptable. "those who worship God must worship Him in Spirit and in truth." evidently, truly honoring God requires more than attendance, it requires a committed heart and soul.

I believe as long as you're doing it all for him and giving Him your best, and not worrying what others think, that He's pleased with it. I usually raise my hands and tell Him how much I love Him. I sometimes dance and jump up and down not caring whether I look like a fool or not

Nice answer, but if someone were to give you a shirt, wouldn't you prefer them to give you one that fits? In that case they would have to consult you on your preference.
Shouldn't we also consult God on the way He wants to be worshiped?
Report as
Well, God just wants you to love Him. I don't think He prefers a particular way of worship, as long as you're giving Him your best. If you just sit on the chair at church and choose not to worship Him fanatically because you don't want to embarrass yourself, I think He would have a problem with that. He wants your attention, but I don't think there's a particular way He prefers you to worship Him, as long as you're doing it for Him and doing your best to show how much you love Him. Psalm 150: 1-6 says, "Praise the Lord! Praise God in his sanctuary; praise him in his mighty heavens! Praise him for his mighty deeds; praise him according to his excellent greatness! Praise him with trumpet sound; praise him with lute and harp! Praise him with tambourine and dance; praise him with strings and pipe! Praise him with sounding cymbals; praise him with loud clashing cymbals!"

I understand what you are saying. I take it to mean that you are Not ashamed of the Lord. That when God touches you, you do as David did. When the Spirit of the Lord came over Him, he danced. And, if that happens to you in the same way, then I think what would happen is you would "dance", or whatever was in your heart in worship to the Lord when He touched you. God touched His People in Bible days, and touches His people now. God inhabits the praise of His people. Thank you for your honest and good answer!

I think that all good religions are equal to god. What I mean by good religions is all religions that don't associate with Satan. Good religions include Christianity, judaism, Islam, Wicca, Buddhism, and thousands of others. All you have to do is pick one that fits you best and enjoy : ) I hope I helped you: )

That is the bible which is for Christianity, I bet you have never even read another book about another religion. You would be surprised at how alike each religion is to one another, which is why I think each religion worships the same god, just with different names.

See that's where you wrong. I know just enough about other religions to know their preaching false doctrine. It would be good for you to know What The Word Of God says about people who bring to you another doctrine other than the truth. It says have nothing to do with them. And if your reading other false teachings other than The Word Of God you will be deceived. Christianity is not a religion it's a Relationship with the One and Only True God Of This Universe Jesus Christ Our Lord And Savior. Beware Less You Be Deceived

If your heart is right with God and you know God And Your a Born Again Believer. Then you will know how to Worship the true God. God does not have favorites. God loves everyone the same. However I believe there needs to be an outward expression of Worshiping God.

Depends on what religious sect leader you ask.

Muslims will say their way is the only way ... Jews will say their way is ... Christians (except, perhaps, for non-denominational) will say their way is.

Of course ... individuals will usually say it comes down to the relationship between each person and God, rather than any specific form of worship.

Which makes you wonder ... if the individuals believe that, why do they follow leaders who don't?

See what He says about it :
Matthew chapter 15 ," 7 You hypocrites! Well did Isaiah prophesy of you, when he said:
8 'This people honors me with their lips,
but their heart is far from me;
9in vain do they worship me,
teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.' "
John 4:23,24, " true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship him. 24God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth. "
So, no. Not every way that people come up with is okay with Him. Just His way!

But this is quite ambiguous as it does not detail the "way".
Report as
The worship in the Old Testament was VERY detailed and people complain that it is too boring.
The worship in the New Testament is not as detailed in the minutiae but enough is itemized enough to know the pattern He wants us to follow.
On the first day of the week (Sunday) the Christians came together to :
1) celebrate the remembrance of Jesus' death and resurrection in the Lord's Supper
2) sing
3) pray
4) collect an offering
5) listen to the Gospel being taught
Inside the general pattern there is leeway allowed but again the attitude, heart, and spirit of the worshippers are key ingredients in what makes the worship acceptable to God.
And of course, outside the corporate worship of the Body (Church), Christians are to daily use our lives in worship to God and that is obviously not a structured mode of worship.

John 8:42-47....42 Jesus said to them: “If God were YOUR Father, YOU would love me, for from God I came forth and am here. Neither have I come of my own initiative at all, but that One sent me forth. 43 Why is it YOU do not know what I am speaking? Because YOU cannot listen to my word. 44 YOU are from YOUR father the Devil, and YOU wish to do the desires of YOUR father. That one was a manslayer when he began, and he did not stand fast in the truth, because truth is not in him. When he speaks the lie, he speaks according to his own disposition, because he is a liar and the father of [the lie]. 45 Because I, on the other hand, tell the truth, YOU do not believe me. 46 Who of YOU convicts me of sin? If I speak truth, why is it YOU do not believe me? 47 He that is from God listens to the sayings of God. This is why YOU do not listen, because YOU are not from God.” (more in comments)

notice it says your Father the Devil is a manslayer. Do you know any religions who not manslayers ( war ) today? A true religion would hold there ground and remain neutral and not kill anyone. And please don't say what if our country was invaded. I would say if everyone followed the main message of the bible there would be no wars in the first place.(more on jw.org) I eargerly await your reply.

John 8:42-47

42 Jesus said to them, ?If God were your Father, you would love Me, for I proceeded forth and came from God; nor have I come of Myself, but He sent Me. 43 Why do you not understand My speech? Because you are not able to listen to My word. 44 You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it. 45 But because I tell the truth, you do not believe Me. 46 Which of you convicts Me of sin? And if I tell the truth, why do you not believe Me? 47 He who is of God hears God?s words; therefore you do not hear, because you are not of God.?

God expects us to worship Him as an expression of reverence and thanksgiving to Him. But God wants even more than that. God also expects us to be obedient to Him. He wants not only for us to love Him; He wants us to act justly towards each other, to show love and compassion to others. In this way, we present ourselves to Him as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to Him. This glorifies God and is our ?reasonable service? (Romans 12:1). When we worship with an obedient heart and an open and repentant spirit, God is glorified, Christians are purified, the church is edified and the lost are evangelized. These are all the elements of true worship.

No, I do not believe all ways of worshipping God are ok in God's view. The reason that I don't is because as Shinypate mentioned, the Bible tells us to worship God "in spirit and in truth". The Bible refers to Jesus as the Way, the Truth, and the Life. So, He alone is Truth. It also refers to Jesus as the "Word made Flesh". He is the Living Word. He is sinless. He completely fulfilled the Word with His Birth, Crucificion, Death, Burial, Reserection and He will also return. Also the Bible speaks in referring to our way to the Father, as any other way than Jesus, being "thievery". Also, it mentions that "our righteousness" is as filthy rags. So, it can't be good works, or man's own ideas of salvation. So, we must know Who we are worshipping and then worship. Our words won't be good enough. Our life and our words, thoughts etc. worship our God. To know Jesus is to know Who He is and to repent and be forgiven does bring by God's Grace, Salvation. But, we continue to know Him more intimately through the Bible, my His Teacher, the Holy Spirit (below)

and as we do, we, ourselves change in our thinking and in many ways. Those ways and thoughts will honor God and can and I believe will be seen as worship. We worship Him in spirit and in Truth, when His Spirit resides in the heart of a believer, as well as being taught and led and kept by that same Spirit. And, our worship will not be based on man's human ideas whatsoever, but, instead, by the Truth, God's Word, that Truth that we must follow and know and walk and live in personally in our life. He receives that Worship, as the Bible says that God will share His Glory with no other. John 1 lets us know that the Word is God. So, I believe that this is the ONLY TRUE worship.

If we're talking about the one, true, Judaeo-Christian God, who tells us about himself, and the way we need to live, in order to have the best lives we can have, on this old earth, in the Bible, NO.
1. The worship, in any way, of any other god, that is, idol, such as money, power, prestige, sex, and the like, is not acceptable to him, and is a serious sin. This includes, especially, the worship, or serving, in any way, of the Devil, who is Satan, from Hell, formerly called Lucifer, the chief Angel, in Heaven.
2. As stated above, just telling God we love him, and just going to church, are not acceptable forms of "worship," to him, because they aren't really worship. We must worship him in spirit and in truth, sincerely, from the heart, as our God, the Lord and Master, of our whole selves, and our whole lives.
3. The only perfect worship service is The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, found only in the Roman Catholic Church.
4. I hope this fully answers your question; and is helpful.

Wrong! You better get out of The Roman Catholic Church if your being taught that. And before you even think about replying back to me keep in mind I probably know more about your church than you do cause I was raised in it. And at the age of 15 I left the Roman Catholic Church and at the age of 30 I became Born Again in the True Body Of Christ. Every true believe has a testimony of how they got Saved. The Bible says and yes it's even in your bible that They Overcame The devil By The Blood Of The Lamb And By The Word Of Their Own Testimony. So my question yo you is How Did You Get Saved? Oh The right You Don't Believe A People Can Know For Certain Their Going To Heaven. Better Repent and ask Jesus to forgive you of your sins and ask God to fill you with the Holy Spirit and ask The Holy Spirit to reveal to you the truth though His Word and come out of the Catholic Church.

In Matthew 7:21-23, Jesus said, "Not everyone saying to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter into the kingdom of the heavens, but the one doing the will of my Father who is in the heavens will. Many will say to me in that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and expel demons in your name, and perform many powerful works in your name?' And yet then I will confess to them: I never knew you! Get away from me, you workers of lawlessness." The Bible is clear on the worship that God approves of and it's up to us to follow these Bible principles. We can't choose to worship God our way.
