Do colors have an effect on people’s emotions?

Report as

Yes they do. Bright colors like yellow, orange, and bright red are invigorating and exciting. Dark somber colors like deep blues, purples, and brown are calming and relaxing. That's why people who have studies or home libraries usually favor dark wood for the decor.

Have you noticed waiting rooms are usually blue or green? Sometimes they have a lot of wood tones. I think they don't want the natives to get restless!

If you paint your walls black it makes it look like the room is smaller. White walls make it look biger. As for effects on your emotions, I dunno, doesn't black make people depressed?

Like it's been mentioned certain colors are calming, others energize you, and other colors cheer you up. People have personal preferences as well. Orange and I do not get along so well!
