What can I do to keep myself from eating when I'm not hungry?

No, I chew gum, don't eat breakfast, eat a fat free yogurt for lunch, and have a regular meal for dinner and I've lost 11 pounds in the past 2 weeks. And, I'm 13

Drink V8 or just browse the internet. But if you wanna lose weight just dont eat, and drink V8 with popcorn(little or no butter) and nothing else, i lost a lot weight from it. :3

eat things that take up room, excercise a lot so you dont have to worry about that.

very welcome. (plus..it worked on me..i love melon but ate so much though.. in a week i ended up loosing weight..and wasn't needing to lose..hurt my head !..had to give it a break...darn it...)

The secret is to keep busy..I can't eat when I am hungry when I am doing a project.Find something interesting like art, sewing,painting, volunteer work, exercising etc...
Have a snack ready when you are at rest..Sugarless gum, celery and carrots all ready cut and ready to go..Yogurt..If you have to eat, eat healthy and small portions..:)

Keep yourself busy. Some people will chew gum, suck on a candy, or eat a breath mint to keep their mouths busy. It helps them keep away from eating all the time.

I'm surprised no one so far has suggested that you drink a large glass of water. Very often we FEEL hungry when we are really just thirsty. Works for me! However, if you are as thin as you look in your profile picture, you do not need to lose weight. You look anorexic, and are in danger of serious illness or death if you don't get medical help ASAP.

AGREED!! Glass o' water will fill ya up just fine..for about 15 minutes. Then, it's time to pee and another glass. Rinse, repeat....it's an endless cycle.

Plan your meals in advance, plan your shopping list and buy only items for those meals, buy only "real" food that must be prepared, ex: lean meat, fresh or frozen veggies. Don't buy precooked or prepackaged anything that you can just tear open and eat. Don't keep it around at all. Stay active. It is simple. I know, easy for me to say. Oh, and don't lie to yourself by saying "It's not easy" and then "I can't". Just do it!

If you don't think you are really hungry first thing you should do is drink a glass of water and if you feel like you are still hungry snack on something that will be good for your body like carrots or make yourself a fruit salad. I know actually what you mean I get the same way.

Hunger comes from your body. Appetite comes from your mind. If you're really hungry, eat. If you're eating out of boredom, stress, simply the time of day, or companionship, you might want to change your mind. How can you do that? With hypnosis. Hypnosis can change that behavior that causes you to eat too much, eat at the wrong times, in the wrong places, the wrong foods or for the wrong reasons. It can convince you that you actually like eating healthy, drinking more water, using less salt and exercising more. And because this change occurs at the subconscious level, it seems perfectly natural and normal to you, not like you're on a diet. Look on line for references to weight management and hypnosis or look up a good hypnotherapist in your neighborhood and give them a call. I think you'll be surprised at what you learn.

Cure boredom! Most of us eat when we aren't hungry out of pure boredom...there is nothing better to do than snack! Horrible! My recommendation...stop watching TV and surfing the Net, do something with your hands...knit, crochet, cross stitch, or get away from the snacks by getting out for a jog, or take a walk in the park! One thing that I have done and it works, get a big bottle of water and drink to solve the hand to mouth obsession. It works (most of the time), Water is calorie free!

Drink more water! If you reasearch, you will find out that most Americans suffer from severe dehydration and mistake being thirsty for hunger pangs, so they eat and eat and eat...lol. I think eating snacks is important but you must chose wisely. Instead of opting for some cookies and milk, try some fresh fruit. Someone suggested chewing gum and that might work, even if it's just temporary.

If you are looking to lose weight, exercise is probably the most healthy way to do it, along with eating properly of course. When I mean eating right, I'm not talking about being on such strict diet that all you can think about is eating Twinkies. I live by the 80-20 rule meaning that 80 percent of the time I'm eating lean proteins, vegetables, brown rice, fruits, etc. the other 20 percent I eat whatever I feel like. That works for me but not for everyone. I work out too, so I think that's also important and allows me to stay at my target weight. If I start gaining a little weight, I just alter how I eat or my workout routine or both.

well you can chew gum... go for a walk...(if you have a dog) take it for a walk...chew on you nails(im kidding)...text on your cell...or practice a typing game to keep your mind off of it.or you can drink 8 glasses of water(not kidding) it will fill you up. :)

Well if your not hungry don't eat if you want to lose weight after you eat [which you still should becase it is unhealthy not to] you could go for a walk.

I chew on toothpicks or chew gum. A lot of the time people eat or think they need to eat because they are dehydrated, so drinking water should help.

I suggest that each time you think of food and you are not hungry try going for a walk or hanging out with a friend or go outside and get fresh air sometimes helps but you have to do something that occupys your mind in not thinking of food :)

you must be a very bored person to be able to stop long enough to think that you have to fill your void with food when your not hungry. if you lack in friends or no one around at the time you start heading for the fridge or cuboard...instead put your shoes on and go for a walk or stick a piece of gum in your mouth and read a book. Make a hot beverage and watch a movie. There are so many different scenarios to this

Drink a cold glass of water. Your stomach has to work hard to warm it up, and in the meantime, you won't feel so hungry. If that doesn't work eat something that you really have to chew, to trick yourself into thinking you ate a lot.

Drinking water before meals will trick the body into thinking you are fuller quicker. Also eating foods high in protein will reduce cravings of hunger. Stay away from junk foods that have "empty calories" and only make you hungry later.
