I'm confused. Will someone help me please? read details

We got an eviction notice at our place, and were in the middle of moving. However, now I was told that we are not moving. We did not even try to fight it or anything. I do not understand how this can happen. The place we were moving to is affordable too. Please help.

Perhaps a mistake on their end. Or someone possibly paid your bill.

i know. stupidest reason ever. and it is illegal to kick us out for that reason but when we went to the cops they ended up telling us thatwe have no rights if it is against the landlord.

Well the only thing I can say is ask why you both stopped the moving. Ask him (or her) why they would stop if you can afford the new place. Let them know that if you don't move then you will have no place to live except stay nights in a hotel. Good luck:)

it says in the amendments of the U.S.A. constitution that the town can sieze property IF they will put it to public use and they pay you a reasonable amount of money

lamens terms?

in a way that someone that does not understand much could understand. like if you were to say (example) "Oh no. It's not me that is going it's you." Lamens term for what that could mean is "I don't ever want to see you again." though that is not the case for real. I appreciate the fact that you are trying to help.

In some forfeiture cases the bank will let you stay temporarily if you just pay the county taxes. It's better for them not to have a vacant house.

Ok.. Ya lost me.

1st you said you got an eviction notice .. Got that
Then you said you were in the middle of moving .. Got that too
Then you said you were told you weren't moving .. THAT is where ya lost me. What does that mean, exactly. Did you mean to say you were told you didn't have to move after all?

first the landlord told us that we were being evicted and then yesterday she told us that we weren't supposed to move.

So you weren't served with an eviction notice then? Sounds more like they threatened to evict you ... Not actually evicted you. Eviction is a legal term ... Which includes paperwork .. If they tell you that you have to leave, they must grant you proper notice ... Not just a threat.

Sounds as if you landlord has no idea what she's doing .. But remember she can not just kick you out .. There is legal protocol.

she said that we had until january 1st to be out at first. is that not all she had to do? I am not trying to make this sound rude if it seems like it. I just couldn't think of another way to state it.

If you have a written lease, than there might be a provision in that agreement that an eviction notice must be in writing. If that is the case .. I believe she can not evict you at any time without writen confirmation depicting the date you have to be out, and the reason why she's evicting you.

we had a 3 month lease and we have been in for 4 months.
Report as
So your lease has run out then? .. and you are now on a month to month agreement?
Report as
 FurryCritterFan1
yep and yep
Report as
Is that why this eviction issue arose .. because your 3 months was up?
Report as
Well, then, that is not an eviction technically .. that was because your lease had expired and that you were expected to leave. If they have chosen to let you stay, you now have a month to month agreement. You no longer are bound by a lease. If they want you out, they only need to give you 30 days notice.

she was saying that it was because of noise, but we are pretty quiet and the only real loud thing since we move in and had things get hung up was the vacuum.
