I need advice (possibly heartwrenching details)

This may seem kind of lame/immature/kiddie of me, but our dog passed away recently after not being able to be put down (idk why), so we had to take him home and let him die at home. Everyone else fell asleep, and I was watching him, and he meant a lot to me, so I was just stroking his poor little emaciated face, and after a second he stopped breathing. And I just looked at his face and his eyes were still open, and his tongue was just hanging out of his wide-open mouth and I was in such shock, I just picked up his paw and dropped it and it just fell so heavily on the floor. It was so traumatic; I was crying so hard I literally felt like I did not exist at that moment. How do I get those images out of my head? They're so disturbing, it gives me panic attacks. It's horrible. Please help me...

Sweetheart, be comforted in that your dog knew you loved him. He probably had a wonderful life with you. My profile pic is my dog and she died in my arms. You being with your dog during those last minutes, and touching him, was the most comforting thing and I'm sure he passed comfortably. Death is a part of life, and your dogs life was good as well as his death. Your touch was the last he felt and your voice the last he heard, I'm sure he was happy.

You may want to ask your parents for counselling.

I had to euthanize my dog a number of years ago ... and I still get "choked up" thinking about him.

It's a normal reaction ... 'cause dogs give unconditional love, so we tend to be closer to them than even family members.

You may need therapy. And try getting another dog. Not to replace your old one but to make you happy again

it isnt kiddie or anything. this must be really hard. Pray about it, and i will, too. And maybe talk to a counsellor.
