Is there an "Inverse Brake Light" fad?

I have been noticing several cars over the last few months where the brake lights are on while they are accelerating and turn off when they actually brake.

Is this an intentional fad that I am not aware of, or is this just poor electrical skills?

Not my car. Just other cars I see on the road. I see one like this every 2 months or so.

well, if its a fad, its stupid and illegal. Brake lights are important safety features, which help prevent accidents.

Bad idea. Unless people WANT to get rear ended because they're stopping and no one can tell.

Huh... maybe you are backing up while they are stopped?
