I have a bunch of recorded 8mm tapes but have no equipment to play them on or duplicate them on to preserve them. What can I use or do?
There are companies out there ( and I don't know where you live so I can't tell you which one ), but look in your phone book. That can transfer 8mm film to dvd's or cd's or whatever format you want and it is not expensive.I found a place for my parents to do that with the old baby movies
You are going to at least need a 8mm player to view these films. Then you may be able to go to a VCR and put them on a tape. This will allow you to connect to you computer with the proper software and may be convert them to a DVD.
Search the Internet for companies that convert old movies to DVD. You send them your tapes and in a few weeks they send you a Dvd and your tapes back.
We had our old 8mm tapes transferred to VHS by a photo shop. We have now transferred them to digitalIf you can find or borrow or rent and old player then show them on the side of a refrigerator and film it with a digital camera. Quality not perfect but at least preserved
