What does gangnam mean?

It's in one of my favorite songs and I don't even know what it means. Help!

For months I thought he was singing "condom style"! Lol I guess that's what happens when a 50 year old tries to stay up to date with popular music!
I embarrassed my nephew to no end when I started sing along with his friends while driving them to the movies. I think one of his friends laughed so hard at me, he peed on my car seat!!!

It's a city district in Korea. He is technically making fun of this location because apparently they are very materialistic, and he is showing them how they seem through the music video
