yes most people I've met from kansas sound like the original fog horn leg horn.

well I'm from California originally now I live in New England and I think people from from New England they have an accent I think it all depends on where you're from and what you use to

have you ever watched The Wizard of Oz? That's the accent they have there. It's subtle, but it's there

Actually I think the actors in that movie were mostly from California.

I'm from Washington State. I've never noticed people from Kansas having an accent.
If you are in an area like New England you will be perceived as having an accent because you speak differently than most people there. If someone from New England is in another area of the country then they will be perceived as having an accent. It all depends on where you are and where you're from. You are the one with the accent if you're from somewhere else.
With the advent of national mass media regional dialects are fading but they still exist.
