If God really loves me, then why is my life ruined?

I have been a strong Christian my whole life and in the last three years, I feel like my life has gone down the drain. Why does God do this? I know he has a plan for everyone, I just don't get it. if you have a verse or good way of explaining it would be greatly appreciated. Oh ya, and if you aren't going to be of any help then don't bother wasting your time making my life worse

Report as

My heart goes out to you, and I'm sorry for whatever it is you are going through, really and truly. I have suffered much of my life, and am still struggling now. There have been good times, and horribly bad times- in our bad times, instead of casting blame on God, we need to rely on him for our help, comfort, and guidance. Jesus suffered in the garden not just for the sins of the worlds, but for the pains and sufferings of the world. He felt each of our pains individually, and he knows what you're experiencing before you've even experienced it. He understands, and is waiting for you to call upon him in prayer. Sometimes, God allows us to have experiences so we can rely on Him more and have faith, sometimes to teach us humility, sometimes to correct us when we sin, sometimes things just happen and there is nothing we can do about them, but you mustn't give up hope or blame God. Like the story of shadrack, mishack, and abedingo (spelling?) sometimes God doesn't take us out if the fire, but he does get in with us. Have faith, hold on. It's going to be ok.

Trust in The Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths-proverbs 3:5
.
My son, despise not the chastening of The Lord, neither be weary of his correction: for wom The Lord Loveth he correcteth; even as a father the son in whom he delighteth-proverbs 3:11-12
.
My son, peace be unto thy soul; thine adversity and thine afflictions shall be but a small moment; and then, if though endure it well, God shall exalt thee in high, though shalt triumph over all thy foes- D&C 121:7-8
.
Be patient in afflictions, for thou shalt have many; but endure them, for lo, I am with thee, even until the end of thy days-D&C24:8

hope I helped:) you might want to change your attitude a bit- learn to lighten up, have a sense of humor. life is hard, but there is no such thing as having your life ruined. sometimes you just have to learn to muddle through and focus on what matters.

Have you ever seen a picture with foot prints in the sand..? That picture tells about a man and his faith with God, like yours. the man says ' God, as i walk through my life i look back and see my foot prints as well as yours. you have always been there. but in my hardships there was only one set of foot prints.' as the man started to get upset and frustrated he said 'Why would you leave me and have me deal with this pain on my own?' the man started crying. God spoke ' my son, i never left you during those times you were down, i lifted you up and carried you on my shoulders. Those footprints you see, those are mine not yours. i have never left you and never will.' God always has a plan no matter how hard your life may seem; the difficulties the struggles the pain, he will always be there. Just pray and put all of your worries in Gods hands. He always comes through in the end. it may take years but i PROMISE you, give everything to God and he will do the same for you.

I was walk'in on the beach yesterday, I looked back and saw my foot prints, no others, and they I was approached by three dogs, I had to wade into the cold ocean waves to try to protect myself from being bitten. But I was somewhat prepared to face that scary dangerous situation. I had a strapped bag in my hand that had some beach rocks in it (I collect rocks). Dem dare dogs backed off, then help arrived. So I guess God provided an escape the water and rocks and smart thinking. Life is Preparation, when one is prepared one can face any problem or avoid some problems.

You need not rely on anybody but yourself to improve your life if you aren't satisfied with it. Stop expecting something that may or may not exist to make your life better.

God makes everything happen for a reason. God puts people in your life for two reasons: To teach you a lesson, or to stay with you for the rest of their life. He puts you through trials and troubles to teach you a life lesson, to let you prove your faith to him, and to lead you on to the good things in life. He has a plan, but nothing is easy. You have to make it through the bad parts to get to the good. Job from the Bible got everything taken away from him. His children were killed, his house was destroyed, his livestock stolen, and his riches gone. All throughout this, he still stayed faithful to The Lord and He eventually gave him everything back and made Job's life good again because he had past the trial and stayed faithful to God.

Hello Sherlock , I got an email saying that you wanted to follow me, is that true? I hope so, because I really liked your answer regarding Bible study with a JW. (Code...) I'm sure that God considers you a valuable player as you use your experience to clear up all the confusion their faith adds. Is it true that their Bible is different than The Traditional Bible? You mentioned the word tradition in your answer, so I think we're on the same page...I've got to warn you about me: I preach Grace! Not the willy nilly kind, but the once you're His, He's not watching to make sure you're not messing up, and subtracting blessings to punish kind! I say that because I see a lot of that kind of talk here on Ask, and I do not think that's helpful to furthering the Body of Christ! Oh sure, Grace leads to obedience, but that's for later! Now, do you still want to be friends? I can and will be polite under any circumstance though...come back here and talk to me, I'm going to look over more of your answers :) bye! Beth

Yes Beth, I like your answers and thought since were already family why not be friends? The Kingdom Hall uses a translation from a jesuit priest. They themselves at one time condemned this scripture translation, but later recanted & adopted it. Some of my closest friends used to be JW. It has been amazing watching God transform them one at a time. All glory to him. So far 7 have left the hall to join christ. I see that you preach grace, and I am with you on that, but my ministry is more to backsliders who are using grace as a license to do what the flesh wants. I also minister to those who profess christianity, but have no fruit. You are much sweeter than me and I feel you bring a good balance to the community (and some of my answers). That's just my standard line when I acknowledge someone's physical beauty, of course you will use it for good! Let's move on...I may need some fine-tuning on my Grace beliefs, so may I pick your brain for a minute? And ask about your views on 3 points you brought up in your comment to me...Im freestyling here, and these are not perfectly formulated questions...Could you give me an example of a person that takes Grace too far? Do you say that because of the believer's judgement for rewards, and they are storing up for themselves wood, hay, and stubble? And you mentioned fruits, are you talking about winning souls, or setting examples around non-believers, or ? And lastly, I am going to go back and look at your answers to see for myself, but do you use Paul's verses for at least some of your answers? I almost always do, and I would like to hear what you think about that, too. Of course, we've been made differently for different purposes that God uses! I'm just working on me , we're all masterpieces in progress , and this will help me grow. Thank you for your friendship . I'll check back here later to see what you said. Bye friend! Beth

Oh I just want to praise God for your kind and sensible words! My mother was beautiful , and it's something that I notice unconsciously. And I recently saw on Bill OReilly,s show that when you notice something nice about a person, that you should complement them on it, because that person will always remember that complement , and even in difficult conversations or situations...they remember the nice thing you said. That's all it was about, Sherlock, I wasn't playing a game, I was just being nice. Okay, now that you know everything that was going on there, I feel better! And you'll remember that I was trying to be nice! Enough said!!!! I'll check back here, because I think I can learn something from you. Hey, that was a nice thing I said that you may remember, too! Bye! Beth
Report as
Hi Sherlock, it took a day or so, but I was finally able to buckle down and focus on the answer you directed me to, and I did learn something new! My salvation experience changed me from "the inside out", and I grew to dislike the convicted feeling from the Holy Spirit , when I tried to lie or whatever I was trying to do, and I quit doing those things. I was never caught up in something really "hard" like homosexuality (Praise God!), so, I never had to "go there", and try to change that sort of behavior. I guess I got off easy, and never had to hear or learn what you paraphrased "we are saved by faith, but not by a faith that is alone!" I'm pretty sure that you mean not works like JWs knocking on doors, but self-evident behavior changes, right? Um, so , this person on Ask, asked you what you thought, and you knew how to answer them...and I'd really like to know how you learned that, because that's a very insightful teacher, or book that taught you that! Heck! I'm just in recovery from the Southern Baptist blender that mixes Law and just a sprinkle of grace here and there ! I'm just so happy to find grace in Paul's letters, (which was skipped over in my lessons back in those days!) that I want to shout it from the rooftops, and tell everybody about grace! In my REAL life( the one outside of Ask) I don't cross paths with homosexuals asking what God thinks, but in Atlanta, where I'm from there is an Open Door Church that welcomes them. I wonder if they preach this way? Or? Do you wait until you're asked about these things? I think the best kind of witnessing, is thru relationships, and eventually people ask me stuff, I currently do not know any homosexuals, but after learning this, God may send one! Thank you, I think this really helps. I still had another point, I'll go back and see what else there was. Bye friend! Beth
Report as
Okay, Fruits. Is that the same as the self-evident behavior changes? And Backsliders, what do you mean? I know the old timey Southern Baptist definition , but that taught you could loose your salvation, and Grace teaches once saved, always saved, so...did you really mean... ? This is the only part I'm confused on. Hope this isn't a drag for you, I may be making too much of it all, but you've been so helpful and given me plenty to think about. Thank you Sherlock , Beth
Report as
Wow Beth, I know what you mean when you say you want to shout it from the rooftops. God is sooooo good! I really could never get my fill of praising him and thanking him. When I think about his love for us it overwhelms me!
If you enjoy praise music please check out this song on you tube...Rooftops by Jesusculture. Your statement made me think of it.
Regarding "saved by faith alone, but not by a faith that is alone" yes, yes, yes, I am speaking of the evidence (self evident behaviors). I am not saying that we can judge peoples salvation, that is for God. We can however direct them to run the race so they will not be dissappointed. We do not have to wait for heaven. It is here now if he lives in you. As the apostle Paul wrote in
Philippians 2:16
Hold firmly to the word of life; then, on the day of Christ’s return, I will be proud that I did not run the race in vain and that my work was not useless.
Not only do I regard Paul very highly, but I have heard it said that romans ch.8 is the highmark not only of romans, but all of scripture! The word of God is our sword in this battle so I use all of it as the Holy spirit leads me.
As to weather we can lose our salvation or once saved always saved...This is an on going debate amongst the church. Both sides have very good points. We can vigorously discuss these differences without dividing. Perhaps we could discuss it ourselves amongst other things.
I live in Portland, OR. We have a very high homosexual population. We are the capital for female couples. I myself was raised by two lesbians. Obviously one of them is my Mother whom I love dearly. We also have a huge drug problem here. Heroin is an epidemic amongst young people. Many of these people were raised in the church. Now they prostitute themselves for another fix. This is NOT Gods will. This is not victory.
I look forward to going into further detail on all these things, and hitting on all the points you have brought up. I am on day twelve of a run at work and will be getting a few days off starting today.
Report as
This is a great place to minister. I have seen you around here in different discussions encouraging people. It blesses me. As I mentioned above Paul urges us, so his work is not in vain. I know he is not saying his salvation depends on it.
But I did come to a conclusion reading this. Enleast it made me think.
Be back soon... In his love ><> Sherlock

Sherlock, thank you for response, I realize you're tired , and that I may have been pushy. It's just that I don't want to be giving one side of it w/o proper balance anymore, and I think you are showing me something here that I haven't heard before. That there's grace, God's part, and a part for us too. Self-evident, I sure did use that word a lot! I was trying to say 'evident to myself' and 'evident to others' and 'evident to our Father'. Where everybody can see and know that we've been transformed. You had to tell me about your mom to explain how you knew so much about this subject, thank you dear soul. My mom was a believer, but lived in fear , and had some mental health issues , and not a victorious life ...well, perhaps at the end, after Paxil. This was back in '04, before all the trouble with it. (It really did seem to help). And now, I think I'm standing on her shoulders, and I am living the victorious life that she prayed I would! But , there's a lot of lost and confused, and I have to learn this stuff to be helpful. It's hard, but I want to anyway. Thank you again. Beth
Report as
Beth1, First of all thank you for your patience. I have gotten some much needed rest and family time. I have not found you to be pushy, so perish the thought. Quite the contrary, I have looked forward to our conversations and the opportunity to share our views and grow!
Point one... Example of someone who has taken grace to far.
We have a Christian discipleship program here in Portland that was started by a man named David Wilkerson. It Focuses on addiction based behaviors such as drugs, gambling, porn, sex etc. Men and women who enter this one year program might be a good example of taking grace to far. Obviously I am speaking of those that profess a relationship with Christ. Not everyone who enters this program is a believer. Why would a disciplship program take non believers? In hope that God would get a hold of their heart and change them, and this program has been successful. Why would the unbelieving addict want to go? Because they are desperate. Nothing else has worked and it has a proven track record. Plus it is free...Room, board, education, Etc. Some who enter, profess Christ yet are living like the devil.. Perhaps they do not even have a real relationship! That is not for me to say, that is for God who can see their heart. I do know that we are to rebuke a brother as I pointed out in the link I gave you. If I may quote Thomas Manton "We have peace with God by the righteousness of Christ, and peace of conscience by the fruits of righteousness in ourselves" I feel it is a much needed ministry to restore backsliders to christ. You have mentioned that you like Paul's writings so I will quote from one of his letters... Galations 6:1 Brothers and sisters, if someone is caught in a sin, you who live by the Spirit should restore that person gently. But watch yourselves, or you also may be tempted. Now may I ask you a question. Is Paul asking us to restore them to Christ or to rewards? I know ...It is difficult.. Scripture is such a deep well. Continued....
Report as
I would also like to recognize He is speaking of those "caught" in sin which I believe is saying trapped like addiction, not stumbled once.
Point Two... What are the fruits I mentioned? Galations 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. 24 Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.
The opposite of these fruits are in the verses preceding vs.22
Now I understand that paul is contrasting the difference between walking in the flesh and walking in the spirit, but I will point out a few of Jesus's words also.
John 15:2 He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful. John 15:4 Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.
If you are getting confused , well so did I... One teacher preached once saved always saved another preached you could be lost. Both used different scripture to back it up.
Where do I fall? I believe If you are really saved you cannot lose it. But not with 100% conviction. I hold a "lets wait and see" attitude. God can sort that out, and I got tired of changing my mind. It is to hard to tell if God is cutting someone off or pruning them because I can not see the future. For now I will concentrate on bringing them to Christ or back to him.
Gotta run to church...In his love ><> Sherlock

Report as
Thank you Sherlock! I will pour thru these comments and consider them seriously. The program you described sounds so great. I used to live on a street of rental duplexes, there were a few crack dealers , and some of our neighbors used , they knew how to talk around me, 'oh, I'm blessed and highly favored, miss Beth', so I know what you mean about how you can't tell from the outside, and only God can see inside a person's heart. Thank for giving me something to chew on :). I'll see you later, gator! Beth
Report as
Hi Beth, Yes the program is a place God can really work! So I see you have been exposed to "street " life to some extent.
Last night our chuch did their Christmas pageant, and I just gotta say how good our children did, and everyone involved! Some of the congregation made the backdrops, others makeup, others costumes. It was soooo... funny! Made my weekend! It was a play on the grinch and the town of whoville. Cindy lou ends up leading the grinch to Christ. It was really well done. Sorry if I am boring you. Back to where I left off...
Point three... Do I use Paul when answering? Yes, Frequently. I have also heard it said "if the bible is a ring then Romans ch.8 is the diamond on it." If someone were to avoid the writings of Paul, they would be avoiding over half of the new testament.
You had also mentioned under point three part b, The backsliders who are using Grace as a license to do what the flesh wants...what would you say exactly, to this person? And how do you run across this type of person and recognize them? I point them to scriptures that show them how a christian ought to be living, and disciple them to pray, become obedient, get in the word, to stop obeying the whims of the flesh, to get involved in a Christ centered church. I urge and encourage them towards a victorious life. I remind them that their is joy in the Lord, joy that they dont have. If a christian is anything, they are fundementally joyful. Yes, they go through hills and valleys, but at their very core their is peace and joy if they are right with God. Let us take David for example: In Psalm 51 (my personal favorite) The King is repenting for willfully sinning. What does he ask God for? Restore unto me the "joy" of my salvation. How wonderful it is to live at peace with God! David had lost his joy, because of unrepented willful sin...He was backslidden!
Report as
Where do I find these people? I find these people everywhere...But I do not force my will on them. I live in Harmony with God before men. When I feel God is pointing out certain people to me I begin praying for them. You want to know something amazing? When the time is right God sends them to me. Then I begin to disciple.
Recently I have counceled and discipled a failing marriage that involved adultery, drug and alcohol addiction, and encouraged someone in their ministry as they also have encouraged me. Sometimes they are family members, friends, acquaintances, new believers, etc... God will work through a willing vessel!
I hope this answers some of your questions! You had mentioned a former church...
The Southern Baptist blender that mixes Law and just a sprinkle of grace here and there ! Could you tell me a little about it. We dont have as far as I know any southern baptist churches in the area...
Peace ><> Sherlock

Thank you for the new comments, I will read them over more carefully later. You're very kind to continue our conversation, I want to be as effective as I can . Thank you friend, Beth

Romans 8:21
King James Version (KJV)

Because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God.

The word heaven is not used, but is implied!

The very nature of God is mercy. His creatures were not even responsible for the fall. Death entered into the world after the fall, therefore the creatures were logically created as eternal.
Our God can not be put in a box, he loves his creatures, and I believe there is enough evidence in his nature and word to justify my view as a valid hope, but not a doctrine. Hope this verse is helpful to you! Merry Christmas Sherlock
Report as
Thank you dear friend, for choosing a verse that you knew would have special meaning to me. I have studied those verses, and knew that the creatures are anxiously awaiting the manifestation of the Sons of God ...but I hadn't looked at it from this point of view before, thank you for showing it to me :). Here is another verse that has been encouraging for me: Revelation 5:13 ( our Lord Jesus Christ has just been handed the scroll with seven seals, and John describes the scene in the Throneroom...) v.12 saying with a loud voice, Worthy is the Lamb...v.13And every creature which is in heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, heard I saying , Blessings, and honor, and glory, and power, be unto him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb for ever and ever. Sherlock, that covers everywhere a creature could be! And we know that's not talking about angels or elders or the 4 beasts because they are accounted for in vs.11and 14. Therefore creatures must somehow be in heaven! And None of them have sin problems like we do...so there's hope :). Thank you Sherlock, you did great for me and God! On another subject, I now see that you are a "sleeves-rolled-up-in-the-trenches-fruit-bearing-fruit-bringing-doesn't-want-to-see-anybody-burn-on-fire-for-Christ-kind-of-Christian" and God is arranging divine appointments for you to do His work. And that you have a fantastic church behind you all the way! praise God! I have not met a church such as yours before with such ability to draw the lost and hurting , and then actually have people in place to help them! I'll go back and read you last few comments and study them today, I'd like to find a church like yours someday. Bye friend!
Report as
So many kind words! Thank you for the encourgement.... I hope to live up to it.
You are correct, the angels and elders were already accounted for in the preceding verses. I found it timely, as I have spent 90 hours in Revelation in the last 8 weeks. I am in ch. 19 currently and when you mentioned ch. 5 and these verses it was exactly what I had just studied. I love to see you building friendships here and ministering to those in need.

1 Corinthians 2:8-10

King James Version (KJV)

8 Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.

9 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.

10 But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.

Hey Sherlock, I thought about our discussion today at Bible study! Here's something I think you were trying to show me about our works...1 Corinthians 3:8 Now he that planteth and he that watereth are one: and everyman shall receive his own reward according to his own labour. V.9 For we are labourers together with God... :) now, I think this kind of labouring (together with God) is different than works. And I think this verse greatly helps me distinguish that! That word "works" was really bugging me! And I think James wrote "faith without works is dead", to the believing 'twelve tribes which were scattered abroad' (James 1:1),NOT to the Grace believers that Paul wrote to. Because they were never scattered! What do you think about what I think? Bye friend, I know you work a bunch, but I hope you'll come back and check on me :).
Report as
Hey Beth, Yes I agree with you that James wrote his letter to the 'twelve tribes which were scattered abroad'. I also believe this letter has application to the whole church since it is inpired by God, just as Romans has application to the whole body and not just Romans. 2 Timothy 3:16 All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching, for showing people what is wrong in their lives, for correcting faults, and for teaching how to live right.

Hey Beth, Thank you for your patience...our new tenants moved in friday. I have missed my free time. Hope all is well with you. Join me in praying for a young lady named Timberly. She is supposed to land tommorow in Seattle for a year long discipleship program. My wife has been counceling her, and our prayer right now is that she follows through with the arrangements and gets on that plane!
She was once a youth leader at a church in Utah. 9 months ago she left her husband and three children saying she never had a chance to have any fun when she was young. She showed up a couple of weeks ago at the church she had attended with her husband. The pastor got a hold of my wife and she called Timberly. She is strung out on meth and heroin and will probably die if she does not follow through. When her husband got to the church to see her he collapsed in agony...he did not even recognise her!!

Join us in lifting her up to God? Thanks friend! Sherlock

Wow Sherlock, I'm sorry that I did not see this sooner! Of course I will pray for her...survival! (Recovery doesn't seem suitable enough a word for how serious this situation is!!). I certainly do appreciate you're including me in the Godly work that you and your wife are doing. Please may I know what progress she has achieved when it's convenient for you. Thanks friend, I agree that God pays attention when we collectively pray interceding prayers for others :). Bye for now! Beth

I am sorry to tell you Timberly did not get on the plane. She is not answering her phone either. This is not uncommon and we still hold out hope! She may have went to get high "one last time" and not come off the binge yet. My wife is confident she will go...when she hits rock bottom... If she is still alive and not in jail. Thank you for praying for her with us!!! I am confident we will see God intervine!

Hi Sherlock, this poor girl is a type of backslider that you were telling me about a few months ago, and I couldn't get my head wrapped around the idea that once someone has tasted how good The Lord is...that they could turn away. And this girl's story is incredibly shocking and sad too, because of how low she has let herself go. So, I will pray that the Holy Spirit will just not take no for an answer! I was just studying in Acts 11 where Peter is telling the 11 about when Cornelius sent men to bring him to Caesarea, (a Gentile city, he wouldn't have gone but...) v.12 "And the Spirit bade me to go with them, nothing doubting." And so I will ask our Father to have His Spirit bade her to go, nothing doubting! In Jesus Name, and in the power that raised Him from the dead, Amen!

Amen, and Amen Beth! Thank you... I will keep you filled in!

Well it seems a bit unlikely that EVERYTHING happened by accident. If you look at a painting you don't think 'oh that was totally an accident'. It's the same with everything else. It was all created for a reason. Was the food chain an accident? Or how about every snowflake that falls?
Report as
Dragonrider- ever ask was the painter an accident? Ya what about god? Something infinitely more complex than the painting, the painter, had to be the accident. It couldn't be the universe that happened on accident- no it has to be the creator of the universe that is the accident. You seem to not understand natural selection or evolution and your understanding of how crystals are formed is lacking as well. If you understood the shape of a water molecule and the physics and chemistry of phase shifting you would know why snow flakes are like they are. No one is saying that it happened by accident but rather- it was inevitable. If you want to divinely augment that you are welcome to but THE FACTS are that laws exist in the universe and if they did not we would not experience life in the way we do. It just so happens there are these laws and so we do- that is just how the universe we live in is. There is 0 evidence to suggest any of this came from an 'accidental' god that has a fetish for creating universes. If you want to understand then go get educated but don't tell me to count the grass or you'll believe in god- you decide your level of ignorance.

Probably one of the worst things organized religion does for its congregation is the philosophy that God will provide and answer your prayers. And people blindly follow that doctrine. Success in life depends on your input and response, education, learning to make good decisions. Blindly praying things will get better does not make it better. Surround yourself with people who can help you navigate through life by making good decisions to make your life better. Just because you pray and ideas come to you does NOT make those answers from God. I know a business owner who makes statements like I prayed about and Gods answer was I should do "this". As a way to validate his horribly bad decisions. It takes more than prayer and listening to your own inner voice. It takes putting yourself in situations and around people who will contribute to your well being. I blindly followed church doctrine that led me down a path if ruin. One day I realized everything I believed was not helping me or my children. Seek wise counsel!

God, whatever you consider that to be, gets far too much credit and earns no blame for the ups and downs in life. It's on you. Scriptures were written to draw in the downtrodden, the fearful, the weak. Those who move thru life successfully on their own wits and effort have little use for false gods and the criminals who purvey them. It's on you. Rise above your malaise, because no one can do it for you, and falling into 'Gods hands' is really you doing for yourself anyway.

It seems to me that when Jesus was a mortal on this earth, he spent little time with those who "had it all together". Sometimes they sought HIM out, but he went out of his way to be with those who were suffering. Did he not say, "It is the sick who need the doctor"? This is the time when he draws closest to you. Look. Listen. Feel...
I was once homeless and slept on pavement a few years back. I remember going to Burger King some mornings and having ketchup packets for breakfast. Yet I was so blessed at this time. I learned so many awesome lessons during this time. Strangers opened themselves to me. Indeed, a truly miraculous time in which received blessings and wisdom that felt like I was drinking from a fire hose. I am so grateful for every minute.
Now, my dear, is your time of miracles--miracles you would ignore if your life was "on track", so to speak. This is your "spiritual boot camp", where you learn how to grow love and happiness in parched soil. This is where you can learn to be the flower that grows through the crack in the pavement. I encourage you to walk your path in confidence and peace. Step by step, the path will unfold before you...
Namaste!

You're welcome, aikenback. I love to talk about and remember my time of being homeless. I learned to sacrifice pride and ego. At first I was too proud to let anyone give me anything. Then God told me, "If you don't swallow your pride, you won't get to swallow anything else." I learned to let my needs be known without using guilt trips. Some people want to bless you, they just need to be aware of the opportunity to do so.
Sometimes I get down about things I don't have and can't afford nowadays, but then I remember there was a time when I was glad just to have a sandwich in my hand to eat. That brings me back to gratitude.
Some people will see a homeless person on the street with a sign and will feel drawn to give them money, but will hesitate because they are afraid that person may use that money for drugs or booze. God told me, "When you give that money, you give it to ME. I give it to them. Cut it loose. It's not up to YOU what they do with it. THAT is between them and me. Regardless of what they do with it, you gave a gift of love to ME, and I will bless you for it."
Had I not gone through being homeless, I would never have learned these things, and many other valuable lessons. I am truly blessed.

And you and I can start a streaming friendship on the comments here from this day forward...but be warned, I am an encourager! You will receive endless encouragement, if you take up with me! It can get annoying...my first thought is to remind you that heaven is not here, and the faith you have chosen has made you a stranger in a strange land, because this planet is so contrary to what's in our hearts now. And it's perfectly natural that you are having a hard time making this place " work" for you. I've had to give myself this same pep talk ...I had to tell myself:'it's not working, because its not supposed to work, because this is Satan's world right now'. That sounds defeatist, but it just makes me seek God's help MORE, makes me lean on God MORE! And bringing these things to fellow believers is a great way to deal while we're stuck here! Come back and see me, we share the same Father! Bye! Beth

Well, lets get started then, shall we? I went back and reread your question, and obviously, I only know a few of the details, but I want to tackle 'why does God do this?' Of course, us believers don't really mean to be mean about God, so you were just venting, but I had a conversation with another Ask friend yesterday about this sort of... He wondered about the Adam Walsh child kidnapping from 20 something years ago, what was going on, was that a planned event from God? (Stay with me here...you'll see how it applies in a sec) and I had an answer that I had been thinking about for a while. In the Book of Job, God tells us that Satan is in the Throneroom talking about us to God all day long, and I can dig up that scripture if you need me to, but...lets imagine that Our Father and Satan are playing a Chess game that is all about you. God makes a genius move---and you get saved, then Satan makes an equally brilliant countermove that somehow ruins the last three years of your life...now, can you think about what if anything that move might have been ? Maybe there's nothing there...in the Adam Walsh thing, Satan "planned" that hideous thing, and God exquisitely countered with inspiring John Walsh to create a TV show that aided and assisted the apprehension of hundreds of really bad criminals off the streets where decent people live! And John Walsh had his part in the thing, too! He's the one who had to step out in faith and gather up the money, and all the things that had to come together to make that successful! This is too long, I'll be back soon. Check back here to find me, details please :). Beth

Which brings me back to you. If this thing really started 3 years ago...we've already asked about Satan's part, what about your part, or was it something exterior like the economy? Because for me and my husband, these last 4 years have been incredibly tough financially, and I'll tell you about our Chess game, too. Only if you want to Dragon, we could have a little "contest" to see whose life is tougher, mine or yours!!! But I want to say that I am forever optimistic, and it really helps that I've have a partner who walks in the Spirit all day long, and I can really get strength to indure, because he is there beside me...going thru the same trials. Are you married, or do you have someone special? Also, we've both lost our earthly fathers when we were in our teens, and have come to look to God for our Fathering. And we look at it like this: our dads are not here to just write us a check every time we need something, and even if they were, they would not just fill out bank account and let us be, ( because, truthfully, we would probably run off to some island and forget about him, and everything that was "hard" for us, right? ) so Wise Almighty God is not going to do that either! The Bible tells us over and over again, that He longs for a relationship with us, He wants us to "call Him up", and tell him what's going on in our lives, and explain what we need and what our intentions are...and then HE decides in His all-knowing way, what is the best way to supply our need, and it may not be a bank deposit, He may cause someone else to supply the assistance! To be continued...bye!

And God knows that when we are stuck in hard circumstances , that dis-comfort can force us to put on our big boy pants :) and , together with Him, fight the good fight! I'm sure that I'm older than you, and I can tell you this from experience...we build our characters through the good AND the bad things we go thru! Each and every experience strengthens us! And I think that God will use the strength you're developing right now thru this very rough period, to "teach" somebody else later! Can you see yourself teaching someone going thru similar circumstances? It's really like a person goes to AA or NA, they've admitted they have a problem and need help, they show up for the meetings, and they are given a sponsor. Which is someone whose been thru the problem, too. That could be something that comes out of this craziness you're experiencing now! I want to bring up one more thing because I know you are a believer. Whether you believe in the Pre-Tribulation Rapture, or Mid-Trib., or Post-Trib., that thing is coming very soon! I have been studying end-times prophecy for about 4 years now. Us, believers have been talking about it for years, but, Dragon, there are things being understood now, that never were understood before! And studying it, keeps my heart comforted because I am convinced our time left in this corrupt planet is very short !!!and I can prove it to you if you will give me a chance! Too long! Bye!

Thanks, and I am fairly certain you are older than me if you are married :) I think my life started getting bad around the end of 5 grade when my uncle died. Everything started going downhill after that. I was convinced that I was the most ugly person ever and that no one cared about me. Then in 7 grade my parents got divorced and I found out I would have to move from the house I have lived in for my whole life. And after that people noticed I wasn't eating much and when they asked me I said it was because I'm fat :/ (at that time I was 12 and weighed about 80 lbs). I can tell you more later but I have to go to school now. Bye!

Thank you for the age info Dragon, I've been talking to you as if you were an adult, did you follow all of it? Hopefully, yes.. I do believe that all of the things that you described were all Satan's evil moves, the lies he told you about your looks, and the horrible way that he split up your family was completely his actions! Maybe your parents will realize that and at least be friends. Me and my husband already know that Satan wants us apart, so if we fuss, we tell each other that! Well, I've got to go do my choirs , but I'd like to tell you to check out some of the YouTube videos about "the Green Horseman of the Apocalypse/Egyptian riots 2011" they show a huge crowd of Egyptian protestors in the streets of Cairo, Egypt , and there appears in the middle of them aGreen horse with a green rider, no one in the crowd sees it (you can tell, because they don't move away!), and that is a sign the Bible talks about that will be the beginning of things that must happen before Jesus comes back! Have fun! See you later here! Bye!

Ya I've been following :) I watched that vid, it was really cool! And a little weird
Report as
Dragon, yeah it is weird! The prophecy is from Revelation 6:8 the fourth horseman is the 4th seal, and The 5th seal is the tribulation. The Bible says that the 4th horse is a pale horse. The Greek word for pale is Chloros. That word can mean pale or green. It's where we get our English word for Chlorophyll. Here's the Bible verse Rev.6:8 and behold a pale horse.... Okay imagine if you were the Bible translator and you came across that word Chloros there, you say:"a green horse doesn't make sense, because there are no green horses", so you use the word 'pale' there instead . Well, a pale horse was just fine.. until the Green horse and rider appeared in those videos! Then Christians all over the world who saw that thing, began to research their Bibles to see about it, and this is all very new information to encourage us, believers...so, Dragonrider, are you at least a little bit cheered up now? I'll check back later, gator :). Bye!

When I started typing the title that song came on) and the line is: my curls and I are just like Heaven cuz rest assured, there's no parting there. And apparently that line is from a REALLY old hymn. You could probably look up that song on YouTube, I am warning you though, it is really weird and totally random :)

Oops sorry. The part about him talking about his hair isn't in the hymn
Report as
:P). Dragonrider, I just had to try :P). You are just adorable! I like the words to that song, and I will look for it later. It's pretty neat that they used the words from an old hymn, did your mom know that? Sometime you can tell me about her, if you want to. Was school good today? It's your turn to talk, so get back here when you can, I'm going out now, but will look for you here, after while crocodile!!! Bye friend!
Report as
Haha you almost got it! It was in parenthesis but it's supposed to just be :P there's also :) :D :( XD ;( ;) and a LOT more!
Report as
Sorry I had to look back at your comment. Yes, my mom new about the old hymn and that was when she decided to let me keep listening to Owl City. School was okay today. I stopped liking a boy that I have liked since the middle of seventh grade. It turns out he's kind of a jerk and cusses a LOT. I was a tiny bit sad bitten I discovered that there a two boys that like me (that all happened within 12 hours!). It kind of surprised me when you called me a crocodile because that is my school mascot :P How was your day? Anything amazing happen?

Oops one more: B) it's a smiley face with sunglasses!

How about this one :{) my smiles have a mustache!!! I have to laugh when I hear you talk about boys , because I remember getting on my friend's school bus ( when I was riding home with her) and waiting to see if the boy I liked would sit near me or not! When I was young like you, I used to have friends that were boys, are the two you talked about both friends of yours? I'm sleepy, time to go to beddie bye!
Report as
Sort of. One of them is in my orchestra and we kinda met because of a dare. One of my friends dared me not to smile or laugh from when school started to when the last bell rang (if you knew me in person you would think that to be impossible). I had gone the entire day doing great until orchestra which is my last class. I told one of my friends to not do anything funny and I told her about the dare. Apparently the boy next to her overheard me and kept making weird faces at me! I told the girl sitting next to me: I think Alex likes me!!! I said it as a joke and so she was like: oh he told you? And then she acted like she didn't say that :P the other boy... His name is Jackson and we have been mortal enemies since we were 6 months old (crazy right?). I can tell you about some of our rivalries if you want me too. But anyways, he was acting a little bit strange around me, and three people told me he liked me. My best friend called me two days ago and she was SO exited! She was like: Megan Megan Megan Megan!!!! I think Jackson likes you!!!! I had to laugh and then she accused me of liking him :/ but I have proof I don't! I always turn bright fluorescent neon red whenever I'm around a boy I like and I never do around Jackson. *yawn* I'm tired too :)
Report as
Your mom and Jackson's mom must have been close friend for you two babies being together way back then! I like that personally, There used to be this TV show called Dawson's Creek back in the '90s. It was about teenagers who had grown up together, and they were really close friends, they hung out in each other's rooms, and all this other stuff. Anyhoo, they eventually started liking each other around 8th grade, and that part was so cool to me, because their love for each other went back so far, and they had that long history of friendship, even if you and Jackson never become a couple, you should think about keeping friends with him during your teens and your college years. Im just saying...:{ ). I noticed that you're in orchestra, what instrument do you play? I play a little piano keyboard , but only in the accompany-ment style. Means that I can play along with a singer , the singer is the melody, and I play the chords along , it's dumb, I know but I can play along with Christmas carols, and happy birthday , and a few churchy songs, too! It always livens up a party when people sing! We'll talk about Mr. Mysterious (Alex) next time! Keep me posted on your last period "dates". Kidding!!! Bye friend! Beth
Report as
Don't try to watch that Dawson's Creek show, it has some adult themes that are not right for younger people to watch, the first season may be okay, when they were really young, but I would not let my kid ( if I had a kid) watch the show. I was just using it as an example, and didn't think it thru all the way! Bye friend! PS now you have 36 answers! Awesome ! See how many people care about you? Oh , and I read your little comments to the person who said there is no God, way to defend our Lord! You did good, girl!!!!

Yes, our parents used to do Bible study all the time! That sounds like a really funny show and I am planning on staying frienemies (friends and enemies at the same time). I actually wouldn't be surprised if he asks me out in high school, idk what I would say if he did though :) I have been playing the cello since fourth grade and I am first cellist in the top orchestra at my school B) (I just had too, I've never used that face before). My mom is a piano accompanist too! Small world... She has been doing it professionally since before i was born!

Oh I almost forgot! Nothing happened with Alex today, but something else extremely shocking happened. There's a boy named Trystan and I liked him and I knew he liked me, and we never really talked until last year. I somehow ended up with his phone number, and we started texting each other about orchestra and school (he plays violin). He informed me that he stopped liking me two weeks ago and I (of course) asked him when he had started liking me. Apparently he started liking me on the first day of middle school when we had to sit next to each other in Language Arts! We are pretty good friends now and I'm pretty sure the whole school thinks we are in love with each other and act like we aren't (which isn't true, for me at least...). He draw a lot of pictures and has a little book he carries everywhere with him and he draws whenever he's bored. I noticed him looking up at me a lot recently whenever he's drawing. He let's my friend look through the book (not me though. My friend tells me everything though :)) but he ALWAYS takes the book from her when she gets to a certain place and flips the page but let's her see the rest of the book. My friend (her name is Victoria) has math class right after he does and saw his book on the floor. He was long gone so she started looking through and found the picture he always hid. It was a picture of a boy with black hair (aka Trystan) KISSING a girl with light brown hair. When she told me I was very confused because he doesn't have a girlfriend and never liked anyone that I could think of with light brown hair. I pointed this out to Victoria and she said: I'll give you ten seconds to figure it out. I though for a minute and then had a total blond moment. I realised that I have light brown hair! She smiled and said: yay you figure it out! Everything about the girl in the pic looked JUST like you.
Did any of that make any sense at all?

Well,Dragonrider, you are the same way that I was when I was age! It sounds like you have a LOT of friends in every class, and that you must be a good friend to them, too! When boys see that all the girls like you, they want to know you, too! Boys hear things that girls say about other girls, and Theyer smarter than they look ;) (winkie wink!) so you must be adorable inside AND outside! I've got to keep this short tonight, but I did want to say how cool it was to know your mom is a professional accompanist , and they you play Cello! Have you seen the "band" called Siberian Steamroller ...um I have forgotten the name , but they have electric guitars, and these Cellos that are really modernistic looking, not like traditional cellos at all! Also I have seen on PBS, these four pretty ladies who look like models and play string instruments!!! You could grow up and do something cool like that with your talent! Well I'm Ottawa here, chick, Go Crocodiles!!!

My spellcheck changed outta here to Ottawa , pretty funny : (()) whatever!

Haha :) it's okay! I haven't heard of that band but they probably have electric cellos. I have been saving up for one for about two and a half years now! They are super awesome!

Ye! That's what I was talking about! These were clear and skinny, like just the fret board and a little more, I think it was lit up somehow, and they played rock music, but it sounded symphonic! The band I was thinking of was Mannheim steamroller , weird name but they sell out everywhere they play. Do you know that Christmas song that goes "merry merry merry Christmas ! Ding goes the bells...the Christmas bells..." (Ding! Fries are done..Homer Simpson -YouTube). I hope your day is good, thank you for your friendship! Bye! Beth :> duck smiles!

That sounds like what I want to get :) you are really awesome and helpful! Oh hey do you have any ideas on how I should do my hair for a Christmas concert? I am going to be first cellist
Report as
Dragonrider, well you probably already know about all the YouTube videos. When I First discovered them, I spent hours watching as many as I could. Do you like that style where you do a medium thick French braid on one side of your face from the part, down to your ear? ( I hope I described it right!) it may not work with bangs, but it would keep your hair out of your face. Do you end up sweating while you're playing in stage? Well, girls "glisten". I only asked because of the hair question, you might like to wear it in a not too messy bun...on second thought, go see the videos! I also love the makeup tutorials on YouTube! There's this one Asian girl that shows different looks for different occasions , which are cool. Can you wear a little make up yet. Probably lip gloss, maybe? When I was in 7th grade, I had pimples, and my mom MADE me wear foundation! Well, it did look a little better. You've probably got pretty skin. Take care of it! My mom was really pretty, and she never went to bed without cleaning and moisturizing! Well, getting sleepy again, let me know what you decide to do, does everybody wear the same color to look uniform? Bye! Beth
Report as
Oh! I forgot to brag about you getting that 1st Cello position!! Wow girl! No wonder you are so popular in orchestra! Your parents must be really proud! Does your Dad come and see, too? What's the date of the concert? I'll say a prayer for you, and I'd like to be thinking of you then! Bye chickie! :)
Report as
That sounds like a really cool hairstyle! I'll give it a try :) I'm actually kind of weird, because everyone else on stage gets all sweaty and gross but I just get hot. I haven't ever sweat, one time my friends didn't believe me so they made me run laps in 90 degree weather with a sweatshirt on and I was totally fine! It was really funny :D my mom wouldn't let me wear makeup until I turned 13, and even now I can only wear blush and mascara. My concert is December 13 around 7:00 pm. Both of my parents and even a few relatives from Washington will be coming! Thanks for the congrats, last year I was in danger of being kicked out of orchestra so over the summer I practised around 160 hours over the whole break, and now everyone is expecting me to get into at least the middle if not the highest orchestra when I go to high school!

Well, you should look at those hairstyling tutorials on YouTube, and you will see that one I mentioned! There is a whole world of things to learn there! Thank you for the date and time of your concert, do you all have to wear black? You probably have a nice dress. How about a cute hair and with a little matching flower decoration ? Maybe Alex will draw your portrait playing your Cello! Just practice well, and you'll have plenty of confidence! It's so cool your whole family wants to come see you! Maybe ya'll can go out to dinner after! I'll mark my calendar, and I'll be thinking about your success! I wish you well my friend! Bye for now! Beth

I look at for new hairstyles almost every morning :) my favourite person is Bebexo, she does amazing hair tutorials. I am going to be wearing all black but not a dress. One time my friend wore a dress and... Well let's just say if you play cello and wear a dress on stage it doesn't end to well. Uh-oh... I just realised I painted my nails neon yellow and my concert is in four days! Well people will certainly notice me :)

It's funny, because I never thought about doing the profile before now...I'm really private, but I'll think about it now :). Okay, I totally get why you don't wear a dress , I had not thought of that part...and I love that you love the hair tutorials, too! When I first discovered them, I watched for hours, for days! I also like makeup tutorials , there's this one girl, she's English...I watched her go from plain round faced girl, to Adele with her cat eye eyeliner! Really awesome transformation , I know you don't wear it yet...but I'm pretty sure you know what I'm talking about! I had to take my cat to the vet today, she's home and doing better, but it wore me out. I prayed over it all day and I know God was with us, when you see this, would you say a little prayer for me and Patty(cake)? I know it will help, and God pays special attention when we pray for each other! Oh, I was trying to say hair BAND before, get a cute hairband with a black feather or black flower, maybe not a black flower ! That's creepy, right? Sleepy, bye, Pattys looking better :). Beth

I will most certainly be praying for your kitty. I lost my kitty about two months ago and nothing was even wrong with her... Today was really bad for me. Alex figured out I like him and my youth pastor (who I have known my entire life) is moving to North Michigan in a few months and right before my B-Day );
(that's a crying face)

Thank you for your kind words, Dragonrider. You are a lovely girl and I know our Father heard you. Patty is still not eating, but she is strong enough to jump up on the bed, and that gives me hope. Sorry to hear about your youth pastor, somebody must need him worse. I'm sure he'll send reports and let ya'll know how he's making a difference wherever he goes, and you'll get someone nice, too. Lets both remember that no matter what happens, God will somehow make it alright. We'll talk about Alex a little later, but I think he's a lucky guy to have the affection of such a wonderful girl. Bye friend, Beth

Hi Dragonrider, I wanted you to know that your prayer is working for me and Patty. After I last commented to you , I was praying and just then, God showed me a very clear picture of filling this giant syringe that we use on the dogs( with a half inch squirt hole ) with chicken broth and tiny chopped chicken, and I did that ! And then I "just knew" to wait to see if she could keep it down, and she did! And i did that all morning long, and she looks so much better! Then she peed a gusher! So, I'm feeling much better ( and so is she!)and I'm just so grateful for your prayers! Thank you, sweet girl! God must really love you a lot! I feel blessed to have your friendship, can I ask you to pray maybe once more for Patty's successful recovery! I hope she's coming out of the woods. Bye friend! I just know you'll be wonderful tomorrow night! And I'll be thinking of you, too! I will comment a report later,

Dragonrider, thank you for your prayers, darling girl! Patty is 13 and she is much better! The doctor said to start feeding her baby food thru the giant syrenge, and she was able to keep that down too, so now I need you to pray for her appetite to come back so she will eat on her own, okay? Your prayers must mean so much to God, because He is surely doing what we need Him to do! I realize how busy you must be preparing for the concert, and it really makes me feel better to know you're squeezing in prayers for me and my cat! Thank you again, sweet girl. Your believing prayers are really helping, don't stop yet, okay? I'll comment a little later, but for now, we're okay... Go be terrific in your concert tonight! I will be praying for your success, and wishing you well! Love, Beth

Dragonrider, yes, I was up with my kitty. Thank you so much for your prayers on my behalf! I am so blessed to have a wonderful girl like you for my friend. Unfortunately, we had to put little Patty to sleep yesterday. We tried and tried everything we could think of to save her, so we are at peace about it all. We think that we will see her in Heaven even tho the Bible doesn't really talk about animals afterlife, I found this verse that talks about what happens in the throneroom of God, when Our Lord Jesus Christ is handed the scroll with the seven seals...Revelation 5:12 Saying with a loud voice, Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, riches, wisdom, strength, honor, glory, and blessing. (Okay, here's the part I want you to see...) 13. And every creature which is in heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, heard I say, Blessing and honor, and honor, and glory, and power , be unto him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb for ever and ever. Dragon, this is not describing angels, or the beasts and elders who are also in the throneroom , because they are mentioned in verse 11 and verse 14. So verse 13. Creatures, creations of God, God created Animals and UsPeople. Therefore, I personally feel that since the verse says "EVERY CREATURE which is in heaven, on the earth, under the earth, and all that are in the sea..." ,that covers everywhere a Creature can be, and we know that only Believers will go into the throneroom, the CREATURES are all Animals and Believing people! That's really what I think! Megan, you should look into that for yourself, but I believe that I am right on this one! I'd like to tell you about the Animals that will be in the 1,000 year Kingdom ruled by King Jesus The Messiah, here on earth, but I'm too long already! I'll check my notes, and tell you later! It will make me feel better :). Love you right now! Beth

Oh I'm so sorry about Patty! It's really hard losing an animal you love. The kitty I mentioned wasn't even mine. I was watching it for my friend for two years. My trends mom got put in jail and my friend's dad was no where to be found. My friend lived with our youth pastor and his family (who are allergic to cats) and her two little brothers lived with another family at our church who already had seven children, a cat, two dogs, a dove, a chinchilla, and a hermit crab! Well my friend had a cat... And it couldn't go to anyone and it was going to be put to sleep if no one could take it. I finally convinced my mom to let us take it, and when we got her she weighed about three pounds and had really bad flees. Before she died she had amazing fur and weighed 20 pounds! She caught a bat so we brought her to the vet and they had to put her to sleep in order to see I'd she had rabies. Well, she didn't. And somehow I kinda knew she didn't. I think she is in Heaven though. I remember when I was five or six, I had a little Bible that I used to read out loud to my cats so they would go to Heaven :)
Report as
Oh you are the sweetest girl! Thank you for telling me the story of how you cared about your friend's kitty, and it sounds like that 20 pound cat was well-loved! Sorry about how it all went down tho...I was greatly encouraged to read about the creatures in heaven, and to tell you what I decided it means. You should always prove these kinds of things for yourself, and not just what somebody says, okay? (But I think that I did a pretty good job of explaining myself! :). I'll be okay, I told all my other pets that Patty is going to be okay. They believe what I tell them :). Thank you dear girl, for your faithful believing prayers on my behalf :). All my other pets are fine and healthy, so all is well. Bye friend!

All your other pets? How many do you have? Oh I almost forgot! Alex... Well, it turns out he's smart. For some reason, whenever I like a guy, I always turn BRIGHT read when I talk to them. It usually takes them a few days and sometimes weeks to figure this out! Well, Alex figured it out after about five minutes. He noticed a few days ago, but it happened again today and EVERYONE (including Alex) was saying i was turning bright red and I kept denying it :) it got even worse though, because every time I even looked at him, I would turn like two shades darker! It was really awkward an I didn't look at him the rest of school. A few of my friends pointed out that he turns a tiny bit red when he talks to me too and he always smiles! But I think that I will ruin all chances of him ever liking me on Monday because it is pyjama day and I am going to wear my Beaver snuffy and he is a huge duck fan (in Oregon our two teams are Beavers and ducks). Oh well, maybe he will think it's funny :)
Report as
Oh I know about the beavers and the ducks! I was working at a Halloween store ( every Fall for 5 years), and I introduced this new girl to another guy, and They figured out that they were both from Oregon, and he asked her if she was a beaver or a duck! Megan, you must admit that sounds so funny! Anyhoo, all that will straighten out with Alex, don't even be concerned , but what I want to know is what in the heck are you going to do with him once you get him? Do ya'll have dances? Will you two hold hands in between classes? Have you ever seen him with a girl he likes before? Does he live near you, so y'all could spend Saturdays together? Maybe he could go to church with you on Sundays? Do you teens still go to the mall, and congregate at the food court? I was always great friends with boys growing up, and the summer before 8th grade, there was a really, really cute boy at the pool where I was babysitting everyday, and I thought we were friends, but he was more 'experienced' than I was, and he gave me a kiss and said he liked me! Well, all of this was very confusing because of boys always being my friends, and he moved away after only a month! Mostly, he hung around my babysitting kids at their house because they knew him, I remember making 3 different cakes one day, and he liked me doing that. , we kissed everyday for that month, I even bought a poster for my room showing a little girl and a little boy kissing, I had kissing on my brain !. i didnt get kissed again until the middle of 8th grade, at the Basketball Homecoming dance. Spin the bottle, the boy really wanted to kiss my best friend, but he got me instead ! I ended up being friends with that boy all thru high school, and a couple of dates after graduation. So it was all good! Wow! I guess you know a lot more about me than you were expecting! You would have never learned that about me on my profile! I'll tell about 3 dogs and 1 cat later. Are you a beaver or a duck? Ha!ha! :) bye!

Hi Beth! Sorry about that, I went to the beach for a couple of days and there was no Internet! And then as soon as I got home my iPhone died :( but I am back and everything is charged :) I texted my friend while I was at the beach and told her I was bored. She said to text Alex and I told her I didn't have his #. Well, after a looooooong conversation she told me that she was going to get his # and then I got mad because that would kinda be a dead giveaway that I like him... I don't think it will work though because I might not be at school tomorrow because I got REALLY sick over the weekend and when I got back from the beach I took a 7 hour long nap. I kinda hope I cam go to school tomorrow though because it's pyjama day, and we get to do secret Santa's, and my orchestra is going to make the principle mad... I've been looking forward to tomorrow for a while :) oh that story you told me about when you were in 8 grade, that is so funny! Did you ever tell your parents? Mine would probably kill me if a guy kissed me now. Speaking of kissing, remember that picture that Trystan drew that I told you about? Well... My mom kinda found it and I had been hiding it because I didn't want her to see it and think that there was something between me and Trystan. When I explained everything she laughed and said that if he was giving it to me as a gift, then we would need to talk but if he was just doodling then it was fine. (aww! My cat just walked in and announced he was going to be pet and started purring!). Polar Express is my favourite Christmas movie too! It is kind of a tradition in my family to watch it every Christmas Eve. Well, I should probably go to bed soon... Bye!

Yes it all made sense! I'm glad you got to go on a trip this weekend, it's funny that you were at a beach and still spent time thinking about what was going on at home! I understand about what you said about your mom. No I didn't tell my mom, maybe when I was 16, I talked about a kiss, but no, I couldn't tell my mom either! But she knew that I was boy crazy, so she probably knew anyway. I won't bring it up anymore, because I can tell you're a nice girl, and all that stuff will come later! Tell me where ya'll go to the beach in Oregon! Seals are there, right? Bye! Beth

I went to Newport and it was super cold! There are seals bit I didn't see any this year :( do you think you will ever tell your mom about the kiss? Oh it was snowing for a little bit today! It lasted like five minutes but everyone got really excited (it always rains but is rarely sunny or snowy here in Oregon)! My orchestra got to do a tiny flashmob today. We learned a Christmas Lullaby and played it in the middle of the school on our main stairs :D

We play in the main stairs every year just for fun and to wish everyone happy holidays and stuff like that. Neither Alex or Trystan wore Pyjamas, but something... Surprising(?) happened. I gave the drawing back to Trystan and he said thanks for rerunning it, ripped it into about ten pieces, threw it in the garbage, and said that now there was no evidence. Do you think I did something? Idk but it was really weird. I did take a picture of it before I gave it back and now I'm really glad I did!

Maybe he has thought to draw another one that he thinks would be better...so, Trystan....he's an artist, and he plays an instrument...he sounds like he's talented and smart, and that your mom might be impressed. Y'all could invite him over for lunch and a movie you both want to see. Here's how it happened with me. I guess I was in 9th grade, and I had a group of girlfriends, and we knew this group of boys. They were all adorable and had really long , pretty hair! (This was at a time when most boys had shortish chair.) and they all were super-cute, too! I guess you would say they looked like a really young rock band. Everybody thought they were cool...I wasn't the cutest girl in my group, but I worked hard on my personality, and was very comfortable and friendly around boys. It was a different time, I lived really close to our high school and my mom let me go out with my girls to the football games on Friday&Saturday nights. We ran into these boys at McDonald's down the block from my school. (All within a mile of my house) the youngest most innocent one complemented me on my cute top (which I had bought to impress him!), and we talked together the rest of the time. I went home and told my mom how nice he was, and I cannot remember if she or I came up with the idea of inviting him over that next weekend, but he came over, my mom fixed lunch ,and I made him a huge bowl of ice cream, I remember my mom's eyes were bulging at how big it was! And then he left, and I wanted him for a boyfriend but we ended up just good friends, our groups hanging out , until he moved away. And from then on, as long as I asked to invite them over, and my mom met them that way, I could hang around with boys outside of school! This is too long, I'll write more later! Bye!

That sounds like a good idea... It might seem to much like a 'date' though. Oh today is the first day of Christmas Break! Yesterday we had an early Christmas for my cousin who left for Australia today to be with his mom for Christmas. I hot some really neat stuff :) I was a little sad though because of my cousin leaving, but also I asked for a Wii game and my little brother got it! Everyone thinks I'm all Gorky and fashion loving and stuff so whenever I ask for something I actually like, they think my brother wants it and was afraid to ask or something. One time I brought up with my mom that I like collecting rocks (my little bro now has a HUGE rock collection) and she said: since when?! That must be a new thing you just started liking (even though I started collecting rocks three years before my brother did). Oh well. I got a curling iron and a TARDIS iPhone case and I don't think my bro would ever want those :) have you done anything for the holidays?
Report as
Megan, I see your point, and the only reason I brought it up is that, lets be honest...you really like boys...okay? And having them over to the house now, where your mom can see that you can be trusted to act like a lady around them now, is going to be so much better than you trying to figure out ways to get around your mom and see boys later. She lives in the same house as you do, so she must know that you love boys, so the fact that you want to invite one over should not come as a surprise to her. Well, maybe this isn't the right time yet, and you'll know when to bring all this up with your mom, but do consider what i said, so you wont end up sneaking around about it. People that do that end up lying, and when their moms find out they were sneaky and lying, they get twice as mad. Believe me! I know that for a fact! Anyhoo, we went shopping at Macy's about 2 weekends ago, and I bought all our gifts, and some gift cards just in case somebody pops up that we forgot...put the tree in the window Tuesday, and thinking about throwing up lights in the side yard, where it can be seen from the road. Maybe I'll make cookies for the neighbors because I have a dozen or so really good cookie cutters, I like to frost them and sprinkles, too...there you go, gal, that's Christmas! Actually, we're staying at our friends house in St. Louis right now, working on his house, so we're not really home with all the familiar things that we usually do...next year hopefully :). I'm curious about your phone cover, what kind is it now? I have one of those hot pink rubber ones, but I want a Betsey Johnson one with some sparkle. I saw one at Von Maur dept. store back home, I think it was $40.00! Not sure if I can get it up here,( I mean if my gas and can get me one :)
Report as
Not gas, husband! If my husband can get me one up here! Darned spellcheck!!!! Bye for now friend! Beth

That's a good idea... I might bring it up in a few months because I don't really talk about boys at home so idk if she knows I even like a guy right now. Sounds like you've been busy! Having fun with it though? I don't have an iPhone case right now, but I painted the apple on it with nail polish :) I got REALLY bored. I just realised, do you know what the TARDIS is? I didn't even think that you might not... I hate how expensive the cases can be. I saw one once that was $300!!! Oh, I also realised that tomorrow is supposedly the end of the world. Do you think anything will happen? I think a great scientific phenomenon will happen: the sun will rise, and then the sun will set and *POOF* it will be December 22 :O

Okay Dragon, just keep my advise in mind whenever it is that you will be ready to bring it up with your mom, she will see that you are trustworthy if you are upfront about those things. Of course you will be socializing with groups of boys and girls soon enough. We'll drop it for now, and you can still tell me about school stuff and orchestra and all if you want to. Switching subjects :) I still don't know what a Tardis phone case is, can you tell me because I may want one:). I like your funny story about your brother getting the rock collection, and the things you ask for for Christmas, you have a very colorful way of telling a story, do you like writing stories in school? I'll bet you're really good at it! Well, sorry we got off on all that boy stuff, because I know you're a nice Christian girl, but so was I, and I was still boy-crazy :(). Lets get back to talking about you! Write me back soon! Bye!
Report as
I don't mind talking about boys, they're just really co fusing so sometimes I'm not sure what to say about them :) I'll tell you about the TARDIS in the next comment cuz it's really long and confusing. Oh, I will also sound like a total nerd but I'm not!

Sorry I knew there was another question an I had to go back to see why it was. I love doing creative writing but I think my school is turning anti-creative. They are taking out the art classes and the most creative thing we can right about in English is how we think politics should change in the next four years. BORING! but I do my own creative writing at home when I can/feel like it :)

Hello Merry girl! I hope you had a good Christmas! We spent the day with our friend's family, and we've been over there before, so it was fun! What did Santa bring you? :). I got some really cute pjs that were more like long johns gray with teal stitching, with a cute flowerycoordinating tank top and a coordinating long t shirt night shirt thingy, anyhow, they all match, I got some Macy's gift cards, and I saw some bed shorts that match the tank, now I want them too! And I have a black purse with brown trim, that I wear a lot because I can wear black or brown shoes or boots, and both look good with it. Well, I got some beautiful gloves with black and brown blended wooly, with black suede on the palm side (so pretty!!!). My friend was very observant to make that happen, but I'm thrilled! Well, I'm worn out, but I really want to hear about yours now! Bye Megan!

I had an okay Christmas... I spent half of it in the ER :/ I got some really cool stuff though! I got something called ShrinkyDinks, a lot of Doctor Who things (oh I forgot to explain that to you!), a little music box that plays an Irish lullaby and has my name engraved on it (I'm a little bit Irish so it wasn't too random), an unusual amount of Hello Kitty stuff, and a curling wand :) I am also aloud to read Harry Potter now (idk why I wasn't aloud to before) but I have started burning through the first book and I really like it so far. Oh and I got a SUPER cute purple faux leather jacket that is based off of one in that tv show I will tell you about in a minute. I got to see my step cousin who I haven't seen in a long rime and he grew like two feet since the last time I saw him! I got really mad at him though cuz he thought I was 11... So I guess it was a pretty good Christmas minus the ER :)
Report as
Was it you who had the emergency ? I hope everything's okay...it's definitely a terrible place to hang out, everything takes sooo long :).
Report as
Um , i once saw this show warning Christian parents not to give their kids Harry Potter books. they pointed out that he didn't pray to God to help him get thru his problems. And that he turned to Sorcery instead. And that kids might think that it's what they should do too. But I think everybody knows Harry lives in an alternate universe, that looks like ours, all except for the games they play, and the classes in school, and the teachers are completely strange and weird...but they wear clothes like ours, and something's are the same...whatever...somebody figured out that kids can tell the difference :)

Megan, is your jacket like a motorcycle jacket a little? I've seen those a lot this season, and I'd like one too. Does it go with a lot of your outfits you already have? Also, I like those old school letterman jackets theyer sporty! Well, going back to sleep now , bye!
Report as
Oh I remembered that you like Dr. Who! Once in a while, I'll see a BBC commercial for a newer Doctor, is that the one you watch, or the (really) old one on PBS? :). I remember everything you tell me! Bye!
Report as
I was in the ER because I had a stupid allergic reaction to something still unknown that made me red, itchy, and look like a zombie. It was getting hard for me to breath so I went to the ER and it all went away while I was waiting but they wouldn't let me leave for a looooong time because they still had to question me and make sure I was alright. Yes, the jacket is a motorcycle jacket and it is super cute! So do you know what Doctor Who is, or have you just seen commercials? So you remember everything I say huh? Okay, WITHOUT looking back at the comments, what is the name of the boy I like and what instrument does he play?
Report as
Well, he sits next to or at least near you, so I will say base cello, or maybe violin (?) and his name is Trystan! Or is it Alex? Jackson is the one you've know practically your whole life... Change subjects, I'm very sorry about your allergic reaction, was it after Christmas dinner? I know everybody brings over their strange recipes...what show is the motorcycle jacket on? And no, I've never watched Dr. Who. But I might start if you tell me about it :). Gotta go , the coffees ready, and smells so good! Write me back, I'll check later sweet girl! Bye!

Dr. Who...my buddy tells me that there's been a bunch of actors who have played him. He travels in an English phone booth. Some episodes are like Star Trek where he deals with aliens, and sometimes he deals with people ...that's all I've got right now :(). Why don't you tell me what YOU like about it...did your mom or dad get you started on it? Also, tell me about the phone case you got as an early present. Did your dad come over ? Do tell...
Report as
Haha, almost! You got Jackson right, Trystan is the one who gave me the picture and h plays violin, Alex plays cello and he's the one that I like :) okay, so I'm finally going to tell you about Doctor Who, and remember I will sound like a nerd, but I'm not!

Doctor Who is a British tv show that started in 1963, the same exact day that C.S. Lewis and John F. Kennedy died. He the main character (the Doctor) is not actually a doctor. He is an alien from a planet called Gallifrey and he is a TimeLord. TimeLords can travel through space in time. His planet was destroyed in a great TimeWar where he meets his biggest enemy, the Daleks! They come from another planet and resemble pepper shakers with a blaster :) anyways, the Doctor escaped in a broken TARDIS that he stole. TARDIS stands for Time And Relative Dimensions In Space. A working TARDIS blends in to whatever time/planet it is on. The Doctor brought it to London, England where the TARDIS changed to look like a blue police box. Now remember, this TARDIS is broken, so it kind of got stuck as a blue police phone box. The Doctor is played by different actors, and most of them don't look anything alike. They get away with this, because the Doctor regenerates, which means whenever he is about to die, he gets a new face, body, and personality. (he has always wanted red hair but had never gotten it) the Doctor has regenerated 10 times and can only regenerate 12 times. So there will be 13 Doctors and right now we are on the 11, who's real name is Matt Smith (fish fingers and custard, bow ties are cool, etc.) he also has companions, or people who travel around with him. The most recent ones are Rose Tyler (my favourite), Donna Noble, Martha Jones, and Amy Pond (my second favourite). A list of a FEW of his enemies are:
1. Daleks
2. Weeping Angels (terrifying!)
3. Centaruns
4. The Silence
5. Slithean
6. Cybermen
7. Autons
8. The Master (more on him later)
9. The Headless Monks
10. The Baine
If you have any questions about things or if I didn't thoroughly explain everything just ask and I will be very happy to explain :)

Thank you Dragon, I'm taking it all in and conferring with my friend who is also a Doctor Who fan. I'll be back soon with a response. What day and time do you watch? I'm definitely going to check it out .. And now I want you to tell me about your TARDIS phone case looks like ( a blue police phone box?) over and out! :)

I watch it on Netflix, but I would recommend 'Rose' for you first episode. It really explains everything. My iPhone case is a blue pice phone box and that's pretty much it :)

Oh whoa. I had this weird dream that I was on ask.com and I was looking everywhere for our conversation and I couldn't find it anywhere and I started freaking out. Then I thought you had like moved to Michigan or somewhere that had no Internet. Then there was something about flamingos.... Weird

You're good at remembering, that's for sure! I have not talked to my friend Claire7752 about Doctor Who, but I did run across one of her questions she answered about the Doctor, it was why is it a good idea to bring a banana to a party? Is that a running joke on the show? Changing subjects, are you out of school till the new year? Have you kept up your cello practice like a good girl? I'm making breakfast so I have to go, I'll check back here later, bye friend!
Report as
Hahahaha! Yes it is kind of a joke :) you would have to see it to get it but it is really funny. I go back to school on January ninth. Oh and I get my braces off on January second! I can't wait for these awful things to be gone... I actually have been practicing. I'm up in Washington visiting relatives for a fee days and I somehow convinced my mom to let me bring my cello :)
Report as
Okay, braces off...COOL! Out of school till Jan. 9...COOL! ( you must be in private school :) Visiting in Washington AND practicing cello...COOL! I heard about a bus sliding off the road in Oregon and I thought of you because I know you're from there, but thanked God you told me you were not even in the state! Did you get more presents when you got there? I'm glad you're having fun, but not forgetting about us here on Ask! Bye friend, talk later! Beth
Report as
Oh wow I didn't hear about the bus! That sounds scary, last year we had a really bad flood and a school bus slid off the road into a 'puddle' that turned out to be a few feet deep. Everyone was okay and there were no injuries fortunately :) but there were other people who were driving at night and fell into a ditch. One of the people got out but the other two got swept away with the car and nobody has seen them since :( I am getting a present tonight but I have no idea why it is yet. Oh happy new years! (almost)

That's just great!!!!! I had that same experience, so I know exactly how you feel! Will you need a retainer? They are so easy to loose, so be careful where you set it down. Everyone at school is going to be amazed, and say nice things about it, you'll see :). I thought of you today, because I saw a T-shirt with a blue telephone booth and it said 'Knock, Knock . Who's there? The Doctor." Cute, right? Well, I'm sleepy early tonight, sweet dreams Megan. Night, Night....
Report as
That is so funny! I need one on the bottom until I get out of high school :( but the top one I only have to wear at night and I got to pick what it looks like! I'm either getting a sparkly rainbow, or a Union Jack! I saw and American flag (which honestly looked like a murdered candy cane next to a blob of blue sparkly jello) and asked if they could do a British flag. The dentist said she would call tomorrow and ask if they could do it. I really hope so!

You still there Beth?
Report as
Yes darling , I'm here. I've been going to bed early everyday this week (or is it every night?), and even tho I do think about how you're doing, I don't come on and tell you often enough, so please forgive me... I never had a retainer for my bottom teeth, so that's kind of new to me. Those teeth must have needed the most work! Are you still out of town? I'm amazed at how much time you get for winter break, are you in private school? My friend Claire has started telling me a little about Doctor Who, and do you know? I think I saw the weeping angels one time while flipping thru the channels! So keep on telling me about what's going on, and I'll eventually catch on! Well, I must go do my choirs (sp?) so Ta Ta for now, my dear girl! I'll be back soon! Beth
Report as
Oh, and I really like your idea of a British Flag for a retainer, my the world of braces sure has become fun!!! Bye!
Report as
No it's okay :) I go to public school but there are stupid budget cuts so we have longer breaks and 19 furlo days. Last year we had 11. My teeth weren't actually to bad. I didn't NEED braces but we had some extra medical money that we could spend on my teeth, or it would go to the government. A lot of people have bottom retainers now, but it is just a tiny wire that goes across like six teeth. It's not bad, just kind of annoying.

Oh oops, I came back from Washington two days ago :) oh hey did you ever listen to that Rugs From Me To You song by Owl City?

Dragon, I forgot before, but I just went to look and haven't found it yet, but I DID watch Enchanted where he says "Taylor it was enchanting to meet you..." I'll go back and search some more, but A( he's cute, and B) did you say that he's Christian ? Because that makes him beautiful inside and out ! I'll be back in a few minutes after I look again for " Rugs". Bye!

Sorry Dragon, can't find it, but there are tons of others I'd like to watch...later. I'm on Ask today answering questions, so you can find me by searching browse connections! See you again soon! Bye friend! Oh and I was just teasing you about your bottom teeth needing extra work or whatever, I know that your beautiful! :P Beth

Ya I know :) I got so excited when I figured out he was saying Taylor! Taylor Swift wrote the original Enchanted for Owl City :P yes he is a Christian which makes him even better :) oh I have a song you can look up! Its called Silhouette and it's one of his new songs. It's my favourite because that's how I feel a lot of the time (well, I used to. Now I'm happier because the dreaded metal glued to my mouth is gone :)
