Why won't my iPhone 4 connect to my wifi network?

My network requires a password to join it. I'm putting the correct password in and I'm still not able to join. A message just pops up saying "unable to join network".

The reason why your iPhone 4 doesn't connect to the Wi-Fi network is because of poor configurations with the local router or a possible interference. You can rectify that by resetting the settings, go o "settings" then "general" and click on "reset network settings". You can also try to test the router with another network to see if it works to narrow down on what might be causing the problem.

If you click "reset network settings" it doesn't erase all your contacts, music and all that stuff, right? Just made me nervous before I clicked "ok."

Are you putting in your routers admin password or the WEP encrypted password? WEP encryption on routers(or whatever encryption you have it set to) takes a 'passphrase' and sets typically 4 passwords that you can chose from. If you don't know this password access your router through your browser by typing in the router address (typically 129.168.0.1 but may be different depending on your network settings. May be on the bottom of your router). Admin is typically the generic username unless it has been changed. Enter in your admin password and go to wireless settings. It should show your correct password to enter( not the passphrase). For further assistance if you are not the administrator of the router make sure to contact your admin for assistance

I solved this same issue by resetting the router/modem passphrase using the Verizon (in my case) router setup screen (type your router number 192.168.1.1 into the address bar of your browser to bring up the router setup screen). As soon as you reset the passphrase and click "Apply" you will lose your wi-fi connection on your PC and you will have to reset the wi-fi passphrase / password on your PC to the new password to restore your wi-fi connection.

After reading these and other possible solutions online, I was ready to check the router settings, etc. as suggested. However, I knew it wasn't the network because my laptop and iPad were still working on the network. I fiddled with the network's IP settings on my phone for a few minutes, that didn't help. Finally, I TURNED MY PHONE OFF, THEN RESTARTED IT and voila, it picked up the network just like that!!

I got a new iPhone 4S and it found my home wi-fi, but when selecting connect, I get message "unable to join network". I didn't even get the chance to input password. I went to "settings" then "general" and clicked on "reset network settings". I confirmed I wanted to reset (fingers crossed) and voila.... now I can select wi-fi, enter password and now I am connected. Simples.

Could be a router issue. This worked for me.
1. Go to Settings - Wifi - and click the "information" ( i ) symbol next to the relevant network, on the right hand side.
2. The next screen is headed IP Address. Click the tab on the right called Static.
3. Enter manual settings as follows:
IP Address - 192.168.1.xxx (where xxx is a number between 2 and 255)
Subnet Mask - 255.255.255.0
Router - 192.168.1.1
DNS - 192.168.1.1
4. Go back to the Wifi screen. The phone should connect automatically (assuming you entered the network password at an earlier stage.
If you have other devices on the network, they'll also have an IP Address in the range above. You're unlikely to have chosen one that's already taken, but if you have, it should tell you and you just choose another number in that range at random.
