Anyone know the answer to this? Where do cold sores come from? How to get rid of it?

Besides Abreva.

Report as

Cold sores come from the herpes simplex virus.
Is Abreva a prescription, or an OTC medication? If it is OTC, ask your doctor if there is a prescription medication made to treat cold sores... I think there is. (??) There's also Blistex that's available, OTC, at pharmacies w/o a prescription, you could try that if you haven't already.
(FYI: Herpes simplex is a virus, same as genit al herpes, meaning there is no cure. You can treat the sores, but you'll always have the virus.)

Cold sores can be caused by numerous things, such as too much sugar, not enough sleep, etc.
As for getting rid of them, they sell cheap over the counter remedies. If you cant afford those, try swishing salt water around in your mouth every two hours.

Cold sores are caused by the herpes simplex type 1 virus. Various factors can make a cold sore flare up, including stress.
There is no cure for cold sores. You just have to wait a few days for the sore to disappear. You can get some relief from the effects of a cold sore by coating it with Vaseline or benzocaine lotion. You can also try hiding it with makeup.
