I know people who always get sick.....but I never get sick..... but I have other problems..... lol

I've gotten it every year for 16 years and I've also researched it. You can not get the fry from the shot. The nasal mist has live virus but the shot has a dead virus. Besides it takes a couple of weeks after the shot to fully provide the desired effect. So if someone gets sick within that time if getting the shot, most likely you just caught the flu.

the flu shot contains the flu virus, you just get a little sick from it. it lowers the chance of getting the flu, but when you do get it its not as bad.

flu shots are worth getting because when you do catch the flu, its not as bad.

Thanks JohnW. I had one very bad reaction years ago that left me afraid of the shots. But then again, also afraid of catching flu anyway. It's a gamble. :(
Report as
bentheredunthat : I think it's more of a risk to get one ! I haven't had one in three years and haven't had the flu either !

Guess it may also depend on age. As you get older flu becomes deadlier. I don't handle being sick now like I used to as a kid. But you make a good point about pneumonia shots. So many cold & flu issues end up in the chest. I may do that instead. Good advice.

At least those shots last a few years and I've never been sick ! Trust me , I know about the age thing ! I used to fight Dinosaurs !

If you get two flu shots in one year, it is likely that you will get the flu from that but not just one.

So sorry CB. Agree - some people do get sick from these things. The illnesses are referred to as "reactions", but it seems like much more than that.

What the vaccine contained (except for the nasal spray) is the virus but uses not a living virus. If you get sick with it in a week or two, you most likely just caught the flu because it takes at least 2 weeks to become effective!

I had a flu shot years ago and within a few hours I was sick as a dog. That was the worst case of the flu that I ever had, I wanted to die. Haven't had one since.
