I just look at my stomach. That's all the motivation I need.....
Tell yourself negative things that will happen if you finish too early. It helps me
I love the previous answers. If they don't work, I praise myself. Sometimes the positive works, and sometimes the "scary" works.
I customize my playlists for my workouts, and the music gives me the drive I need to complete a workout. That, and failing a PT test is grounds for discharge.
I'm a big Bruce Lee fan, I watch some of his workout routine videos and that gets me motivated to run, and lift.
reward your self if you complete your workout
Each time you finish completely, put a dollar in a jar. Once the jar is full you can skip that day for working out and restart the jar. Saw that on Pinterest I think. I like the following quotes to...
"No matter how slow you go, you're still overlapping the people on the couch."
"When you feel like quiting, think about why you started."
"Run because you can. One day you might not be able to."
Finish? Gee, I can't even motivate myself to START! Whenever I need motivating I reward myself afterward. Little things get little rewards like a longer shower or coffee with friends and big things get big rewards, like a bag or video game I want. (:
Get friends to join and keep each other in check, or join an online support group, or find a social fitness group nearby to give each other support. Or one thing that really works for me is get pictures of people whose body you strive for and put them in a place you'll see often. Then when you think of quitting ask yourself how much you want the results. :)
Running? Wouldn't you rather just have a cupcake?
Hi CeeJay!!! What you need is some variety in your exercising so that your daily activities stay fresh and interesting. Set up a rotation of squash, jogging, swimming, gymnasium workout, canoe or row boat, digging in the garden etc. Something different every day not only keeps you focussed - it keeps your enthusiasm alive. Another approach is to drive to different areas each day so that you have a different area to run through. Variety remains the spice of life....
I just quit it after 6 times! xD
I don't run, but I do workout 5 to 6 days a week, and I cope by giving myself a two week break every 6 to 8 months or so, to slack off - once you quit working out, it makes you WANT to start back up again, since exercise really does make you feel so much better, physically AND emotionally
Put a TV in front of your treadmill or oliptical time flys
think of how attractive you will look when its all over
Look at your stomach. That should motivate you enough.
I always put myself on a type of auto drive. Instead of thinking, "Oh no, 1 more mile to go." I think, "I've completed 2 miles already. I can do this!"
think of positive stuff like how would you look when you finish working out
Do things that get you hyped up-have a bunch of sugar, take a five hour energy, take a bath (idk it helps me) or something else like that. Also listen to music that you like. The better the mood your in the more motivated you'll be!
Get someone to work out with you. That would motivate both of you.
I don't know what shape you're in or if you are overweight and need to lose weight. If that's the case, then, keep telling yourself you can look better and feel better if you keep your eyes on the prize. One thing I do when I work out is to hate my weight and muscle weakness MORE THAN the work it takes to lose it. I keep telling myself that I'll look better than I have ever looked because I will stick with the work outs on a regular basis. I also refuse to accept my body the way it is. Flabbiness and extra pounds are NOT AN OPTION! I expect more of myself and I deserve to prove to myself that I can be in better shape. And SO CAN YOU!!!
Oh I don't know. I ave the same problem with a lack of motivation and nothing can help me with it
watch extreme makeover: weight loss edition, with chris powell, it motivates me in anything i need to do
Make it a habbit - do it every day at a certain time (e.g. when you get home from work. Also it is important that you don't postpone it, and that you make it your first priority), and you will start thinking "i really need a run right now" instad of "oh shoot, i better remember my run today". You can compare this to when you wake up in the morning and want breakfast, even if you aren't starving. In the same way you are gonna want to take a run everyday. And dont worry about sore muscles - they are gonna get used to it after a week or two :)
Best of Luck - Andreas
One of your goals in training for your half or full marathon may be to improve the way you look and feel. So make sure you periodically remind yourself of the health improvements you're making. Get your blood pressure tested, or step on the scale and check your weight. Think about how much more energy you have, and how you now have a healthy way to relieve stress.
That's really what it's all about. Don't make running another stress in your life. Instead of "no pain, no gain" think "no fun, no run." Hope that helped!
pretend ur a werewolf who is super strong
Well, don't push yourself. 3 miles is a lot...for 5 days a week. If you really don't want to finish, and you've done a significant amount, just stop. Working out doesn't need to be running, so if you do this on a treadmill in the gym, do something else (like leg lifts). But if you run a track, walking for a little while helps.
