What would you do if a teacher made a racial slur towards you?

advice

Report as

report it to the principal and parents, or get my phone ready to record so that if they did it again the "teacher" would be looking for a new job. if you don't mind, i'm curious as to what the teacher said. if it's upsetting to you then i understand also.

Recording anyone without their consent is illegal, regardless of the reason. Not condoning the teacher's language at all.

i'm not saying bring the recording to court but illegal or not, if the principal or school super heard it, perhaps the teacher couldn't be let go legally but he/she would certainly have some explaining to do. the student doing the illegal recording could claim ignorance to the law but the teacher knows you can't call anyone, nevermind your students, racial slurs!

I agree the teacher should know better, but there are more than one set of ears in a classroom to be questioned without a doubt. A thorough investigation would be instigated immediately if all proper individuals (principal, Superintendent, parents, students) were notified of the situation. I am not vouching for the actions of the teacher at all.

that's true, if said out loud in front of the whole class, wow this teacher must be a genius not to mention a d-bag, there ought to be plenty of witnesses.

Physically assaulting a teacher is a felony. A racial slur is inappropriate, but most likely a misdemeanor.

Grin and bear it! Hate her for the rest of your life! That is what I did :) Still hold a grudge on my 5th grade English teacher!

But Honestly, if it was something that made you uncomfortable, and will keep you from performing in the classroom, you should probably talk to your principal or assistant principal and have them address it with the teacher. If it continues after that, have your parents get involved.

I would want to know what was said, and the context before I make a judgement.
