Im 17 and I have Achilles tendonitis. What can I do to not be in so much pain?

I love playing basketball. but because of the tendonitis I'm unable to play for my school. It doesn't hurt on a day to day basis. It really begins to bother me when I engage in physical activity. Even a light jog can leave me in pain. Is there anything I can do?
