A professional associate and valued friend has asked me to manage his Office and service his clients...

...while he honeymoons for 5 weeks. I really would prefer not to do it as I'm 73 years old, retired for a number of years and have not kept abreast of the advances in the field. He poo poo's this, saying, "You could do this standing on your head" I'm not at all as sure of this as he is. He is a good friend of many years and I don't want to disappoint him at his happiest moment but I'm so unsure.

A valued friend of many years is worth more than gold or silver. While you may not be able to do everything he asks of you, cannot you do something, anything to ease his load and allow him to have his moment in joy and contentment?

I'm retired also. If someone asked me to fill in for them, they would get a very assertive "No." It's OK to say that. You're under no obligation here.
