It depends on your lifestyle. Dog require more attention and care. They need to be walked and taken out rain or shine (or snow). They need to be exercised and do best on a schedule. If your lifestyle is less organized, and your schedule is constantly changing, or if you are going to be gone more than 9 hrs a day, get a cat. They are much more independent.
Cats are definitely not as high maintenance...I would go with a cat. A really good breed are Red Ragdolls. I have one...they are AMAZING! if you're afraid a cat wouldn't be lovable enough, you cannot go wrong with this breed! They are the sweetest things ever! Mine sits on my lap when I do my homework for hours on end! He also sleeps on my bed every night, sometimes he lets me sleep on him at night (I rest my head on him), and he has never growled, hissed, or bitten at anyone! They are the second nicest cats in the world (first is a Sphinx, the hairless cats). Dogs are good too, but they are harder to crate train and potty train, but I have a dog and two cats and love them all! ;)
I love cats...less work...more fun in my opinion. They are not over hyper. Don't lick or smell to bad and adapt to every home. Dogs are a handful but fun. It depends. Don't buy a dog if you can't spend time and give a lot of attention. They are just like having a child. Most take on a dog with out realizing how much care they need.
Cats are much less work. They also are very independent. Everything is on their terms. I had one named Rusty, that was very much like a dog. He was absolutely the best pet ever. I even brought him with me, when I moved from Rhode Island to Arizona.
Well it mainly has to do with your life style and home. If you don't get out much and stay indoors a lot then a cat would be a good pet and or if you live in Small apartment. If your active and have a yard where the dog can run then that's a better pet for you. I prefer dogs, there wayyyy more fun ;)
It depends. Do you have the time to take the dog on a walk every day and give it a lot of attention? If not a cat would be better because they can be independent and require less work in my opinion. Plus my four cats dont destroy everything like my dog does, I hardly had to train my cats but the dog is still a work in progress.
Both are great pets! It really depends..... if you want someone who is going to run around outside with you and be a constant companion, then a dog would be great. A cat would also be your best friend too. If you do choose a dog, may I recommend some great breeds? Labs are great, and I personally love huskies, and Samoyed's.
It depends what you want in a pet. Dogs tend to like to spend more time around people and they are more interactive. Cats like to do their own thing the majority of the time. If you are looking for a pet you can take places with you you should also pick a dog. My personal opinion is dog, that is because I like pets that I can spend more time with in general. It is up to you!
well some cats are really sweet and loving, that's just their personality but some are shy and some are mean. Dogs are the same but both can be worked with to get better. The bright side about cats though most like to cuddle and chill, and they use a litter box!
if you have house room, time, a yard, places to walk it and play, etc then defiantly and dog. if not just get a cat, cats are pretty indepent, sometimes moody though ;) personally i love dogs, i have a golden and love her more than anything. i also have a cat, she can be a little...irritating, moody, etc, still love her though. also, not a fan of small dogs, just get a cat lol they are just irritating and often untrainable, noisy disobedient and somewhat useless. i think of them as wanna-be dogs ;) if your going to get a pet make sure you can take care of it and then some. if you dont think you can provide care, love, and time then get a fish, bird, hamster, etc. also animals, especially dogs and cats can be extremely expensive
and btw its not always true cats outlive dogs. i had a cat, and she was the nicest cat ever, alalwaysanted to cuddle, you would always wake up to her in your bed. however she had some problems and died at about 8 :'( it depends on the breed, care, health, gegeneticisorders, accidents etc. its always worth it though good luck and have fun!
Here are some reasons for a dog: Dogs are yes, very active, but that can sometimes take a toll on the owner. Some dogs need more exercise than others and if they don't get that they sometimes will turn aggressive towards you or a child. Also, dogs need to be taken outside to use the bathroom... very pleasing.... and they mostly dig up your yard. Dogs also have another flaw which is getting attached to one person. My dog got attached to my mum and I got bit in the face because of it.
Reasons for a cat: Cats are not as active as dogs. This is why some people don't think of cats over dogs. But, cats can play with you and show much love if you take care of them. My cat Winkie purrs 24/7 and shows as much love as a great dog could. Also, cats dont poop outside..... a lot easier. BUT, WHY DONT YOU GET BOTH????? :/
It really depends on your life style but dog are a lot more fun. They are a pack animal and will always be loyal to you, especially larger dogs. They know when you are depressed or down and they really feel for you. I have 2 German shepherd and I am usually depressed due to family matters and dogs are so smart and they know. They come up to you, and they like being with you to comfort you and try to make you happy. Cat's on the other hand couldn't care less, not that I don't like cats, it's just a unfortunate truth.
Look, cats are good if you have a busy life style or don't have enough room for a dog but to be honest most cats will just hang around to get attention and food. Some cat's are different but this is just in general. I had 2 cats once, both had different personalities and I did enjoy giving them attention but they don't care about their owners. Think about it, you offer them a safe and loving home and they won't do anything in return.
Loyal dogs will protect you with their life and do anything to make you happy. So if you have the room for a dog they are far better.
Hoped this helped to give you a idea of what to get.
You need to sit down and think about your lifestyle are you playful and energetic or calm and relaxed . And if you choose a cat you will have to deal with a litter box,but a dog you will have to deal with training and the barking. Its your option but remember you don't want to give it back after a week of having it so try to make a chose that you can stick with.
