i think it could be considered a global issue, because most modern countries except the US have legalized it nationally- and those other world powers are kind of upset that the united states is persecuting same sex marriage in their country
We enforce "thou shall not kill" at least in part. Is that a church and state issue? Should adultery be a basis for divorce? The church speaks against that too . The Bible says to "honor thy father and mother." Are we just picking and choosing what we like from the Bible? If we like what the Bible says then we adopt it . If we don't like what it says we call it an interference of Church and State.
