If (3/d+3)=(4/d+12), what does (d) equal?

Report as

Is the denominator just the variable? Or does it include the addition of the whole number?
if so then the answer is : D = 24
you multiply each side by the other sides denominator and get:
(3)(D+12)=(4)(D+3), then just work it out

agreed. this is confusing because parentheses are used when they're not needed, calling into question the user's correct usage of them throughout. there are no parentheses in the denominator, so the denominator is the variable only. if the numeral should be included, this correction should be made by the asker.

(3/1+3)=(4/1+12) so 3+1=4x3=12 so d is equal to 1

how does this make sense?

You can't just plug in a number

I'm starting to miss the ASK thumbs down. This makes no sense.

3/d + 3 = 4/d + 12
d(3/d + 3) = d(4/d + 12)
3 + 3d = 4 + 12d
-1 = 9d
-1/9 = d

I got it a different way

That looks good! Again, it all depends on the denominator. Thanks
