It's the same as manic-depressive. You are never on an even slope. Draw a line & above is the manic side & below is the depressive side. Medication is usually needed because people with Bi-Polar disease usually don't play well with others.
Well bi means 2, like bi cycle, polar think of the poles, they're completely opposite, so you have 2 behaviors that are opposite of 1 another. It used to be called manic depressive, but the shrinks changed it up, so if you look into the new DSM the mental illness is now called bipolar.those not medicated or not diagnosed folks will display extreme mood swings. They may be depressed & not get out of bed for days even weeks, the flip side it's like they're on coke, buzzing around like a person possessed. They may stay awake for days, working on all kinds of projects. I knew a girl that would write music non-stop, it's a shame, if they were good songs it might ot be bad.
