In desperation I had the brilliant idea to use the bottom of a Pepsi can as an ice scraper on my windshield. Now there are silver scratches

All over it. I know I know I'm an idiot. Please help

Get some 0000 steel wool. This is a secret of auto detailers. They use this to clean off the windshield of cars. It gets rid of anything stuck in the tiny crevasses in the glass. It has to be the one that has four zeros at the bottom of the package. You can find it at any Home Depot or home improvement store.
Go over the glass lightly at first. Hopefully this should do the trick.

If they aren't too deep, you can actually have scratches buffed out. Call your local glass repair/replacement shop and ask for a quote, it certainly won't be as much as a new windshield. Good luck!

Just drive around like that. His windshield will have it's own bling! Besides, what's the worse that could happen?

These may simply be aluminum deposits and not actual scratches on your windshield. Get some Bon Ami cleanser powder (VERY important... it MUST be Bon Ami) and see if you can buff them out with a bit of powder on a damp, soft cloth. It can't hurt, and it just might help.

MrFadedGlory and FarmerGirl have the best answers. I used to detail cars and I don't think they are scratches. Try the 0000 steel wool first. We used that all the time. You can use that with the Bon Ami (hasn't scratched yet)
DO NOT use green scrubbies. They can scratch glass. Btw I am a window cleaner now.
