How do I file for a tax id number for an estate account

I have to open an estate account for my deceased father and have been told I need an tax id for the estate.

First, you need to obtain a SS-4 form from the IRS website. Fill in the information needed on the form and then mail it on the mailing address provided. Alternatively, you can visit the IRS website online and enter the required information then submit the application once you are through. I think you go to the city where they provide lic. or you can call 411 for info.
